Oceania is simple and tops in value, Princess is the premium runner-up with desirable rewards and pampering.

Oceania Cruises

We like the simplicity and value of the Oceania Cruises program, which is in keeping with the overall Oceania Cruises philosophy. The main benefit you get is a generous onboard credit. With cruise number five you get $200 shipboard credit per stateroom on every cruise. This continues with greater amounts as you climb the ladder, $400 per cruise with cruise number 10, $500 per cruise with cruise number 15. But that isn't the only benefit.

After your first voyage with Oceania Cruises you are automatically inducted into the Oceania Club. Like most programs, you are invited to a cocktail party onboard and are subscribed to the cruise line magazine.

You get access to the members-only section of the Oceania Cruises web site where you can catch up on the latest Oceania Cruises news, insider information and promotional offers. You get access to special pricing, complimentary amenities and exclusive privileges on select sailings.

At your tenth cruise they add free gratuities to the $400 stateroom credit, saving you about $200 per person -- nice! Upon your 15th cruise you get all the above plus two free spa treatments per stateroom. Book your 20th cruise and your next cruise is free. You also get two complimentary spa treatments, two complimentary half-day shore excursions and complimentary gratuities on your twentieth cruise and beyond.

Here are the specific details about the Oceania Club:

BRONZE:On your fifth cruise, you will be awarded a Bronze membership pin and will receive a $200 shipboard credit per stateroom on cruises 5 through 9.

SILVER:On your 10th cruise, you will be awarded a Silver membership pin and will receive a $400 shipboard credit per stateroom plus complimentary gratuities on cruises 10 through 14.

GOLD:On your 15th cruise, you will be awarded a Gold membership pin and will receive a $500 shipboard credit per stateroom, plus two complimentary spa treatments and complimentary gratuities on cruises 15 through 19.

PLATINUM:On your 20th cruise, you will be awarded a Platinum milestone membership pin and a FREE cruise (certain restrictions apply). Members will also receive two complimentary spa treatments, two complimentary half-day shore excursions and complimentary gratuities on cruises 20 and higher.

Princess Cruises

The Princess loyalty program, the Captain's Circle, is one of the most rewarding programs, especially for a "World's Leading Cruise Line" where you can still find deep discount prices. There are three levels beginning at Gold for two to five cruises, Platinum for six to 15 cruises and Elite for 16 cruises or more. You can count cruise days instead: Platinum after 50 cruise days and Elite after 150 cruise days.

There are special offers and early booking incentives, which you can receive by mail, email or phone. A representative of the Princess Captain's Circle is onboard every cruise to make sure you receive all the benefits to which you are entitled.

Some of the nicer aspects offered by Princess include free laundry service, free Internet access and a complimentary bar setup with your choice of spirits in your stateroom when you arrive.

Gold Status:

The program starts with the standard magazine subscription and a cocktail reception onboard. Gold members receive a "Princess Passport" personal logbook for your memories with special destination stickers given on every cruise. Every year you receive a copy of the Princess Cruise Atlas with details on upcoming itineraries and sailings.

Platinum Status: (includes the Gold level rewards)

As a Platinum member, when you purchase Princess Vacation Protection travel insurance at the standard rate, Princess will purchase an upgrade to Princess Platinum Vacation Protection automatically on your behalf.

You get preferred check-in to help expedite your embarkation.

Complimentary credits are offered towards the purchase of Internet access time packages. This includes wireless, which is now offered fleetwide. The credit is as follows:

$75 for voyages of 7 days or less (equivalent to a 150 minute package) $100 for voyages of 8-20 days (equivalent to a 250 minute package) $200 for voyages of 21 or more days (equivalent to two 250 minute packages)

Elite Passenger Status: (includes the Gold and Platinum level rewards)

Passengers with 150 cruise days or 20 cruises under their belts receive these added amenities:

Complimentary mini bar setup according to your personal preference. If no preference is indicated in your Member Profile the standard selection will be given. Drinks will be refilled upon request and you will only be charged for the additionally requested drinks consumed.

You may request a complimentary selection of deluxe canapés to be delivered to your stateroom on formal night.

Complimentary afternoon tea may be served in your stateroom, should you wish.

Your stateroom bathroom will be stocked with the upgraded bathroom amenities reserved for Suite guests.

10% Boutique Discount storewide -- simply show your card when you make any purchase and the Boutique Staff will automatically deduct 10% from your purchase price.

Elite members receive priority tender embarkation with boarding directly at the gangway instead of waiting with other passengers in the lounge area. You join the tender just before it is cleared to leave the ship or dock.

At the end of the cruise you can pick your disembarkation time, choosing to leave first or linger onboard for awhile.

Some of the better elite niceties include complimentary laundry and dry cleaning services, which your cabin steward will organize for you. This includes complimentary shoe polishing service upon request.

At the popular Wine Tasting events, Princess will pick up the cover charge for you. Space is limited at these events so you must confirm with the Circle Host who will contact you at the beginning of your cruise.

Windstar Cruises Foremast Club

Everyone that has been on at least one Windstar Cruise becomes a Windstar Foremast Club member. As such, you receive:

  • 2-for-1 savings on select cruises, and other special discounts
  • Invitations to onboard events, such as special receptions with the Captain
  • A free subscription to Foremast Club magazine and the annual cruise brochure

Members may receive price discounts, onboard credits, pre-paid gratuities, wine, and/or other amenities -- all based on the exact trip you book. You can access the special member's area to see the options or you may subscribe to the newsletter to receive the notices by email.

You must book with Windstar over the phone prior to pricing anything out and mention to the reservations agent that you are a Windstar Foremast Club member.
