Special offers for fantastic cruise sailings are aplenty, and what's more, the deadlines are being extended.
|Norwegian Breakaway or Norwegian Getaway - the selected names for the new NCL ships.|
Some cruise lines have new special offers every week. The problem is that they promote them at the last minute which doesn't give me time to pass them on to you. But if you read my editorial from yesterday about the effect of the current economy on the cruise lines you will see that the nature of special offers has changed - they are extending the deadlines.
Holland America Line has deals in Europe where the cruise starts at $899 and you can add airfare for as low as $699 (the airfare amount changes depending upon your location).
Among the cruise values is a 15-day cruise on the unique Prinsendam starting at just $1399 per person. The Prinsendam was the original Royal Viking Sun - an infamous ship that shaped luxury cruising for today's top of the liners. The ship has also belonged to Cunard and Seabourn, and was acquired by Holland America and renamed Prinsendam in 2002.
Great special values from Holland America!
14-day Australia and New Zealand Cruises Start at just $999 per person!
Holland America Line
On sale is a 15-day transatlantic cruise from Ft. Lauderdale with six days at sea before the Azore Islands including a stop in Horta and Ponta Delgada. You continue on to Lisbon (overnight) and then to Brest and Cherbourg (France) and end in Tilbury (U.K.) up the Thames River - much closer to the city of London than the usual ports of Southampton or Dover.
Seven-day Mediterranean cruises on the beautiful Holland America Eurodam start at just $899 per person. You cruise from Rome to the beautiful Italian village Portofino, on to Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Tunis (Carthage) and Trapani (Sicily). This cruise sails next April.
Seven-day Norwegian fjords cruises are also on sale for only $999 (obstructed oceanview) and you can add a third and fourth guest for only $99 apiece (same stateroom).
Celebrity Cruises the Caribbean
Book a beautiful Celebrity Cruise in the Caribbean from $499 per person now!
Carnival Cruise Line is offering discounts on seven-day Mexican Riviera cruises on Carnival Splendor for as low as $389.

Norwegian Cruise Lines - which just announced the names of its two new ships from the Project Breakaway - is offering a sale with onboard credits up to $250 per person. They have Caribbean cruises starting at $349, European cruises starting at $449 and the best Hawaii cruises in the business starting at $999. You must book by Friday, September 16.
You can book the Norwegian Spirit sailing roundtrip from New Orleans for $349 per person, but these are real last minute bargains - September and October, 2011. Ports of call include New Orleans, Costa Maya, Roatan, Belize City and Cozumel. It is a port-packed itinerary perfect for first-time or less experienced cruisers who really want to see the beautiful Caribbean.
The Norwegian Star sails roundtrip from Tampa (easy to drive to) and calls at Roatan, Bay Islands Honduras, Belize City, Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. Another Port-packed itinerary. Balcony cabins are just $679 per person. Other great Caribbean values from Norwegian include the newer Norwegian Pearl and Norwegian Jewel, both offering a large variety of onboard dining options courtesy of "Free-style Cruising." Inside staterooms on 7-day cruises average less than $400 and balconies are about $700.
One very interesting cruise is the transatlantic voyage on Norwegian Epic coming October 23rd. I sailed on this ship across the Atlantic last year, but it was only a seven day voyage. This 13-day voyage with stops in the Azores and St. Thomas will give you plenty of time to really experience the ship and all of the great entertainment options onboard.
CruiseMates Cruise - Europe 2012
Sail on the Brand New Carnival Breeze on a 14-day cruise from Barcelona to Italy starting at $1499 per person. Carnival Breeze 2012
This ship is one of a kind - it is very active with truly great spots such as O'Sheehan's Pub and the fantastic Blue Man Group stage show. It also has "Legends at Sea" a tribute to famous entertainers and The Second City comedy group. Howl at the Moon is the "dueling pianos" show where you can sing along and get carried away. The entertainment is the best thing about this ship - the drawback is that a seven-day cruise does not leave you a lot of time to really enjoy that entertainment. But this 13-day voyage will give you plenty of time to see and do everything this ship has to offer.
Fares on this 13-day cruise start as low as $879 for an inside stateroom and just $1079 for a balcony. The cruise sails October 23, 2011 from Barcelona.
By the way - the names selected by Norwegian for the two new ships, the first scheduled to arrive in April 2013 and the second in April 2014, will be Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway. The names were selected from a pool of 230,000 entries to a contest held by USA Today.
