Culinary buffs are in for a special treat when Bon Apétit Magazine offers special cruises.

"Bon appétit" will soon mean more than just a mealtime wish on some sailings. In the ever-expanding world of culinary-themed cruising, Bon Appétit magazine has announced it is now branding cruise vacations. What exactly does this mean for food-loving cruisers?
The press release isn't loaded with details so I emailed Michael von Wittenau, vice-president of strategic business development for Signature Travel Network, the travel cooperative partnering with Bon Appétit.
He said details are in development and promised me more information in a few weeks. I imagine the upcoming Bon Appétit sailing on Regent Seven Seas Mariner in July is the first of a few in 2010. The Regent cruise, departing July 18th, spends seven days in Tuscany and the South of France. I can't think of two better regions for finding superb restaurants and markets teeming with the freshest produce.
It appears the usual foodie magnets, like cooking classes (although these are hands-on, so kudos for that) and tastings, will be offered onboard. But knowing Bon Appétit magazine, I'm guessing that the folks in charge, along with Signature Travel, will come up with some exciting new ideas for culinary exploration at sea.
12-8-09 Bon Apétit Magazine to offer Branded Cruises Signature Travel Network and Bon Appétit magazine just announced a new partnership to create a culinary travel program for epicurean enthusiasts.
With the launch of a series of exclusive cruise and land vacations available for purchase only through Signature's Travel Specialists, travelers can now delve into culinary adventures through a variety of Bon Appétit branded vacations. Beginning in 2010, Signature and Bon Appétit will provide a collection of culinary immersion itineraries. The first scheduled holiday will be on the Regent Seven Seas Mariner departing on July 18, 2010 for a 7-day cruise, which will visit the Tuscan region of Italy and the South of France.
Travelers will now be able to familiarize themselves with a destination through culinary experiences such as: hands-on cooking classes, select tastings, wine and food pairing dinners, and much more. "We're thrilled about this partnership. It's a win-win situation," said Michelle Morgan, President of Signature Travel Network.
This joint program with Bon Appétit will work under Signature Travel Network's popular Personal Enrichment Series. The branded travel experiences will provide benefits to Bon Appétit and Signature clients through a variety of special offers, exclusive amenities and in-room/in-stateroom gifts. Some destinations the new program will feature will be Barcelona, Spain and Tuscany, Italy where guests will have the option to enjoy a private car and driver to guide them along a tailored culinary visit throughout the region crafted by Bon Appétit.
