Cruise Complainers
The case of Brenda Moran hit the news this week in an article by Anita Potter at The Morans were banned from Royal Caribbean for being chronic complainers - demanding some compensation on every cruise. When they posted a particular refund experience online, a number of people wrote the cruise line to object to giving them any compensation at all.

As a consumer-based cruise publication we get plenty of cruise complaints, especially in the last week. Some are very legitimate and I try to give the reader some advice on what to do. But in most cases, people are making mountains out of molehills. You can see them, unedited and uncensored, in our CruiseMates' Reader Reviews.

Cruise Complaint Examples:
"The ship had terrible water, and that was all they served at dinner without an additional charge!" In fact, you can get iced tea or lemonade, and all the water is distilled from sea water making it perfectly palatable in my opinion. "The buffet fried chicken only offered dark meat" And dozens of other entree options.

"One of the nightly shows was comprised of drunk karaoke singers with the ship's band - not what I paid to see!" In fact, the show is a combination of "American Idol" and "Show-Stoppers" where a week-long Karoake contest leads to a professional stage production with band, costumes, sets and backup singers. It features the winning passenger contestants, in costume, singing in the roles of the artists who made the songs famous. I liked the show.

Here is another complaint from this week, "I injured my thumb badly on a tour bus when the driver hit a bump... but if it didn't happen on the ship the staff could not have cared less." Frankly, I agree, but I am sure the staff expressed at least some sympathy.

Here is a legitimate complaint; the last male contestant in a sexy legs contest was secretly told by the ship's host to throw the lady judges into the pool. He tried to be a good sport and did so, but one of the ladies screamed bloody murder. The crowd was outraged, especially when the staffer denied he had told the man to do it, though he later admitted it to the cruise line. The man was treated like a pariah for the rest of the cruise. I hope the host was fired as he obviously isn't bright enough for the job.

All the cruise line offered was an apology, though I am sure his cruise was ruined. Now you have to wonder if the Morans have ruined it for people with legitimate complaints.
