Cruise News for June 10, 2010
Norwegian Epic Fire - There is word out that Norwegian Epic suffered yet another blaze Tuesday night. This is the third breakout of fire onboard and this incident has the most signs of being intentional. Word is that investigators found several air conditioning filters stacked up that appeared to have been ignited. Fortunately, there was only a minimal amount of damage and the introductory cruise schedule is still intact.
Norwegian Epic is also exhibiting unusually soft pricing for a ship with enough features to make it one of the most exciting new mega-ship introductions of all time. Norwegian Epic's introductory prices are going as low as $659 as soon as September 18, 2010, with balcony fares as low as $949.
Meanwhile, Oasis of the Seas is still commanding premium prices seven months after its debut and is booked nearly to capacity through the summer of 2011.
Norwegian Epic Special Offer
There are even special offers being announced for Epic for as soon as this summer. We were contacted by the cruise line and told about a great sale on airfare for cruises as early as this summer.
Guests booking specific categories of Balcony and Deluxe Balcony staterooms for 7-Day Caribbean sailings from July 10 to August 8, 2010, can get airfare from east coast and central cities for just $99 per person.
People flying in from Mountain and Western time zones can get airfare for $199 per person. This offer also includes transfers to and from the airport to the ship (about an $80 value). This offer only applies to the first two guests in any stateroom.
These cabins start at $1215 per person. For specific details on airfare prices from your "gateway city" call NCL.
Carnival Special Offers
Meanwhile, Carnival Cruises is offering shipboard credit with almost every cruise booked departing now through February 2011. Cruises of three to six days will receive $80 of shipboard credit, and cruises of six days or longer receive $160 shipboard credit. This offer only applies to bookings made through the June 30, 2010.
