Dress code in the dining room has become flexible through the years.
Your 7 year old is just fine with shirt and tie.
Dressy capris will be fine.
I did wear in the dining room dress shorts with a fancy blouse heels and fancy jewelry. No one stopped me and I actually got compliments on the outfit.
