Clothing for Alaska

Just booked a cruise to Alaska for Sept 10 05, much to my regret, after reading the board on Sept cruise to Alaska. What type of clothing should you take? I went on Southern Carribean May 1 . I am sure it takes a completely different wardrobe. How heavy type clothing should you take? Should you even take walking shorts or short sleeve shirts? Any help appreciated>

Layers............best thing for Alaska......we went in May & had warm....upper 60's to low 70's......weather. Lots of people in the pools & hot tubs.......inside the ship was nice & warm......Juneau was a bit damp but the others were maybe sweatshirt weather. Enjoy.....Alaska is beautiful!!!!!
