The hangar situation is definitely a good question. True there are never enough, but you don't need to bring your own. Just ask your cabin attendant and they will bring you all you need.
It never even occurred to me to ask the room steward (being a newbie on my first cruise). We had 4 people in our room and I was worried about the same thing. I just used a bunch of the wire hangers like you get from the dry cleaners. I doubled up shirts on some of the hangers and then just brought more. They don't take up any room. I just slid them in one of the outside zipper compartments on my suitcase.
That is not a dumb question at all We always bring hangers from home because the hangers they provide are the big wooden hangers. They're nice, but they take up a lot of room, and we hang almost everything (except shorts and underwear ). We either ask the room steward to take them or we store them somewhere out of the way.
We pack our thing ON the hangars, and then we don't have to spend our precious vacation time putting them onto hangars, we just take them out of the suitcase and hang them in the closets.
We also put dry cleaner bags over our clothes and they don't wrinkle in the suitcases. I think that w/o the friction, they stay fine.
