Default Another question about post cruise flight times?

We are looking at a post cruise flight from Fort Lauderdale leaving at 11:55 am...we are docking at 8:30 am. I thought it might be a bit tight getting through customs, etc. then airport security even if we made arrangements to get off the ship early. Others will probably have the same idea.
This is our first cruise..on RCI's Jewel. We've had past experience with missing a flight and with wondering if we were going to make a connection....very nerve racking...not a fun way to end a vacation.
Any advice will be appreciated!

We did that on our last cruise and we were literally running from the bus to security. We were scurried off the bus first by airline personnel, and we still had to run with bags to security. If you can change your flight to something later do it.

We docked at 8:00 a.m. and were at the airport by 9:30 a.m.. We self-debarked and took a cab to airport (about $10). Our flight wasn't until 1:00 p.m. so we had a long wait. If everything goes right you should be able to make it, but if I have a choice I always book the later flight.

When we cruised out of Fort Lauderdale last Nov/Dec there were 7 or 8 ships in port on Saturday and Sunday. That's a lot of ppl at the airport. Also, the same # of ships in Miami and many ppl will be bussed to FLL and fly out because of better rates. You most likely will make it if you make arrangements to be off ASAP...but you will be stressed.
