Hey! Sailing on the Dream in April, 2011 to Western Caribbean. Have a balcony cabin and am wondering if anyone knows if the ship docks to a certain side in Belize, Cozumel, Costa Maya and Roatan. We would love a view of the port as we dock. Any info would be appreciated.
I have 3 of these ports on my cruise, coming up as well..you may have a combination of both..or the view in front of the ship, with sea views on each side..Many times what you see out your window/balcony is not pretty, loading docks, terminal buildings, machinery etc.....The upper decks are where you would get a better overview...

Most cruise ships rarely tie up on the same side twice in a row in most ports.
Many factors decide which side of the ship will face the pier:
How early or late the ship arrives.
How early or late the ship needs to depart.
Which pier the ship is assigned to.
What sort of gangway the port authority will be providing.
Where the x-ray machnes were left at the last port call.
Which side of the ship needs painting.
Which side of the ship needs window washing.
Whether or not provisions will be loaded.
Whether or not water or fuel will be bunkered.
Which side the port authorities tell the Captain to tie up on.
In many ports, even the ship's Captain does not know which side he will tie up on until just before arrival.
