Default Carrying wine or liquor on to ship at Baltimore

Last time I went out of Baltimore, cruisemate carried wine on to ship. The bottles were in carryon pack which was opened and checked by staff. Can you carry wine and Liquor onto cruise ships at Baltimore and this decision made by cruise line?

The decision is made by the cruise line and is independent of the port of departure. As far as I know, none of the cruise lines allow liquor to be brought on board. Holland America lets you bring as much wine as you like; you can either dirink it in your cabin or pay a corkage fee to drink it anywhere else. Celebrity allows one bottle (750 ml) of wine per passenger per port; Princess allows one bottle per passenger, period. I don't know about the other lines.

Thanks for clarification. The cruise line was Celebrity. This cruise was on the Mercury and soon afterwards Celebrity quit Baltimore. I will have to do due research before I take any liquor or wine.
