Default What do you suggest for Aruba?

We will stop there for a long day. We are thinking of a short bit of sightseeing around the island, beach in the afternoon & dinner out at night. Has anyone tried any of the local restaurants or clubs? Any opinion about Baby Beach?

Baby beach is the best! We were there earlier this year and it was great. There's not a lot to buy there so maybe bring snacks with you. There is a cave close to there that you can explore with the flashlights they give you. It was one of the best parts of our cruise! Have a great time!

You have a good plan for Aruba. I would hang out on Eagle Beach in the afternoon; a two-mile stretch of white sandy beach with a few vendors for snacks & drinks. Eagle Beach is also only a few miles from the cruise ship. Have dinner at El Gaucho, an Argentinian steakhouse located in downtown Oranjestad. Enjoy your cruise.

I did the honeymoon there...absolutely loved it. We rented a jeep, put the top down and enjoyed the island by ourselves. Its a small island everything is within 15 mins. drive. Loved the back roads, I thought north shore by the lighthouse was very cool. Tour the grounds at the Wyndom if you get a chance...UNBELIEVABLE hotel.

Thanks for all the great ideas--surprised you mentioned El gaucho--It must be ESP.
I just printed their menu & hope to make res in advance...how far is that from the ship..Did you also try their Cigar Bar across the street? Sounds like exactly what we'd like to do for evening....ship doesn't sail til 11.pm Should we make advance res at El Gaucho? Also, how far is Baby beach from the ship & who gives youthe flashlights? Both beahes suggested sound great...hope alos to get to see the island whihc sounds possible in the am....Will post back to see what else is suggested.

El Gaucho is a few blocks off the main street in Oranjestad.....a short walk from the cruise ship dock. I would make reservations in advance. Didn't take the drive to Baby Beach so can't help you on the time/distance.

Snorkeling. Absolutely the BEST part of Aruba. I have never seen just amazing colors, the water was beautiful and shallow and perfect.

I am enjoying this thread. I am going to Aruba for a day and was wondering what to do. We are planning on renting a jeep and then taking off to see how much we can fit into a day. I will stop at Eagle and Baby beach for sure.

On Aruba, my favorite thing is to snorkel over the Antilla, a sunken WWII German ship. This is the only place I've found decent snorkeling. Baby beach is a great beach, but the snorkeling has been the among the worst I've encountered in the Caribbean. I must be hitting it at just the wrong time. I have heard that there is a smalll private island just off the coast that is pretty nice for snorkeling.

Natural Bridge is a pretty nice site. The caves are so-so, but if you've never explored caves you may enjoy them. By and large, it seems most people hit the beach, bar, dine, and shop. Aruba is mostly desert.

Try the stretch of beach between Malmok & Boca Catalina; about 1 mile north of the Marriott resorts. If you arrive after 10:00 a.m., look for all the snorkeling tour boats and you'll know your in the right place. Easy entry (sandy beach) and a short swim puts you in a farily good snorkeling area.

When we were in Aruba, we did the half day jeep safari through RCI. It stopped at the natural bridge, a mining structure, the caves, and a nice beach. It was definitely a great was to see a lot of the island in a short time. In the afternoon, we took a taki to Palm Beach where the highrise resorts are. There, you can relax or engage in any number of watersports including jet skis, parasailing, catamarans, snorkeling, etc...
