Dunns River Slips and Falls

I have climbed the falls at Duns River twice and never witnessed anyone slipping and falling down, but I was wondering if anyone has witnessed a serious fall and how the incident was handled. A for instance would be a person suffers a heart attack. Does the excursion company take the patient back to the shiip? Is an ambulance called and the person taken bakc to the ship or a local hospital? Cace?n you get slip and fall insuran

I have not witnessed it, because I chose to not climb, for that very reason. People really need to wear beach shoes, that will grip the rocks for better protection. Not sure I have heard of any extreme injuries, but of course anything is possible.

You need to take out travel insurance with medical included,and, with good medevac coverage. If by chance the injury was too much for a Jamacian hospital to handle, one would be airlifted, most probably to Miami.

I bought water shoes there, $18 I think, but they did rent them for $10 as well. No one fell seriously when I was there. Actually I was surprised how easy it was and wanted to go again sans guide.

Dec 2011 my family (6 people) went up the falls. From our viewing of the ads we thought the water level was only ankle to shin deep. We were highly surprised. Some in our group were not athletic at all and the climb was difficult and very dangerous at times. I did see a gentleman, not from our group, slip on a rock in about 3' of water. It seems he either broke a bone or seriously injured his knee. I do not know how it all turned out, our tour continued on. My wife was definitely not excited about this specific excursion. It will not be on any of our future excursions. I do not feel this particular event is the safest of activities.
