Steam Iron

I can't imagine going anywhere without an iron. Especially when there are going to be so many opportunities to dress up. Is a steam iron okay?

No, irons are not allowed. The ship folks consider them a fire hazzard.

I know there has been alot of questions and issues with irons. There is no more fire hazard with a steam iron than there is with a power strip. Steam doesn't produce fire.

You're right,,,steam doesn't produce fires, but appliances that heat up, and are left turned on in the cabin sometimes do. Power strips don't normally heat up. (unless overloaded by a steam iron or something)

are you talking about steamers or irons that have a steam setting? Steamers are allowed, irons of any kind are not allowed.
Irons in staterooms have burned the bedding, towels and the rugs.

They are called steamers and not steam irons. That one little word "iron" makes your question a lot different than what you intended.

'Steam Irons' are NOT allowed. How do you think these contraptions make steam? Something inside gets really hot, really fast. If not filled with water and left on they will melt the whole device. (I know the hard way ) Some of the newer models do have automatic turn off if not filled, or left unattended. But that does not matter here, as they are not allowed.

I don't think that Carnival allows steam irons in your stateroom because they are a fire hazard. Some people just forget to turn them off.

Well, if you want to use an iron, there is one available in the laundromat on every floor with cabins. You could also dry to steam out the wrinkles by hanging your clothes in your bathroom while you shower, I suppose.

I brought along one of those new type of steamers ---the ones you see in all the malls -- and also brought along Downey Wrinkle Release.

We used the steamer once, carefully measuring out the salt and water. Between the measuring, set up, steaming and cleanup, it took forever.

Then I tried the Downey Wrinkle Release. Guess what? The wrinkle release worked so well that we never used the steamer again.

You can't use the wrinkle release on silk and fine materials, but for everyday, it's great! We would put on our clothes, spray ourselves, smooth out our shirt/pants, and off we went. 10 seconds worth of work and we were out the door!

I've even used it at home when I'm running late to work.

Carnival has laundry rooms on certan decks with usually two irons,and ironing boards.

It's the terminology that throws people off. A steam iron is an IRON with vents to release steam. A steamer is what you're referring to. They are available in a travel size - Oreck makes a good one.

IRONS of any kind (that press clothes) are simply not allowed on cruise ships, for many reasons; one being they get so hot they could overload circuits. Any good steward will remove an iron from a cabin if he/she sees one.

All the Carnival ships I have been on have passenger laundry rooms on each deck, complete with washers, dryers, ironing boards, and irons.

No irons are permitted on board...remember the recent fire on the Princess cruise lines?! I know it is a pain, I am an ironing freak, but it is not worth the safety isssue

Hi BlueChef welcome back....missed you.I also thought Carnival had laundry rooms on every deck,but some of the fantasy class ships do not.I had a main deck room on the Imagination,and had to go up to find a laundry room on this ship.

Don't forget if you choose not to do your own ironing, you can send them out to be pressed at pretty good rates.
