Default guest backing out?

Due to unforseen circumstances beyond her control, our fourth person may not be coming on my cruise in March with us. We've already paid, but I was just wondering what I need to do now. How does Carnival handle this? Thanks.

If insurance was bought and the reason falls under one of the possible claims, then the insurance company will handle it. If no insurance was purchased, are the reason does not qualify under the insurance contract then someone will lose. Carnival will only have to drop the name from the booking paperwork. Carnival's other concern is if your guest at this time is inside the penalty phase of days until sailing. It differs depending on the length of your cruise. But the full deposit would be the first to go. Rick

It is too bad your friend had to back out. If no insurance was purchased you could try to find someone to fill the spot and she could pay the person back. The airfare will be a problem, if you purchased it.

I sure hope he or she had insurnace.....Sometimes sheet happens that makes cancelling necessary, so hopefully if there is insurance it falls in the category....Hell, I'd quit my job if I was told I oculdn't go on my cruise., my time off is mine to spend and no one can tell me when I can take my time off.....

I'd say first thing you should do is call your travel agent or Carnival, depending on who you booked your cruise though. One day could make a significant difference. I know the closer to cruising you get, the more is non-refundable, again depending on how long the cruise is.

I'm sure one of us would be happy to fill that spot though!

I am looking at the possibility that my sister may not be able to go on the cruise. Hopefully not but. I have insurance but I was wondering if she can't go is it possible for someone else to take her place? There will only be the 2 of us.

Check with your TA and, if you have someone who might take her place, the TA should be able to get a name change on the cabin. Of course, a major part of this is (as stated by others) the penalty period and how long it is until your sail date. I booked 5 cabins for 15 of us for April and when my son, his wife and my granddaughter had to cancel we were still over 90 days from sail date. The TA was able to cancel them and book two friends of ours into their cabin.

So it would have to be before the 90 days? We are not sure what is happening with my mum, she just had a biopsy on a spot on her lung. We hve to wait for the dr's say what is happening and then we will go from there.
