I am happy you recovered and met such nice people. The minute I saw Ferrangi's pic on here I said to my sister boy I bet she is fun to go on a cruise with. She is a nice person. The world needs more like her. I saw you were from the same place so I thought you might be related.

I like CJbanks
They have good sales, and we have a local store here in the mall.
You can also shop online at cjbanks.com
very good quality.

Have you tried OneStopPlus.com? It's a combination of Lane Bryant, Roamans, Avenue, Chadwicks, etc. It's nice, because everything is on one site. Also, I like Silhouettes.com. They have pretty things. I like the WeBeBop stuff, too. You can get it from Catherine's stores or on eBay and Attitudes.com. I especially like their swing tops, but they have lots of other pretty stuff, too.

This is a great site for plus sized swimwear. I have two suits from them with accessories and it is very high quality. http://exelnt.com/

Hi Huffca,
Has anyone mentioned Nordstroms or Nordstroms Rack for the plus-size woman? As a constant shopper, and real bargain hunter I have seen some cute fashions at great prices at these two stores. I believe that they have a cruise line wear too in their store.
Good Luck.

Sometimes JCPenney has some really great prices on the plus size dresses. I have bought 3 formal cocktails there ranging in price from 19.99 to 34.99 and all 3 had original prices of $110-$140. The only thing is some of their stuff runs small so it is best to try it on in the store.

At the risk of resurrecting an old thread, I'm going to add to this one anyway because I found a site that is totally worth adding.

If you're looking for something for elegant night, try zaftique.com. They had 12 pages of great dresses with 99 dresses per page. I've got two dresses on the way so I'll have to update you all on how they do, but they have sizes up through 6x (or on their site, 6z). The prices were fairly reasonable for semi-formal wear. Their tops are just to die for, but they are spendy for sure.

But yeah, I feel ya on trying to find something to wear and I'm really frustrated with clicking on something only to find out it's out of stock.

I keep saying I really need to open a plus sized store in my fairly small town..we have nothing here but CJ banks and they're just not my style AND they don't go high enough for many people.

Because you know, we all used to skinny dip, but now some of us have to chunky dunk

Just cause it was hard to find. If you are ever in Rome Italy and want to shop of clothes. PITRAN Go to the Donna part for women and the Uomo part for men. The store is right near the Spanish steps. Wonderful well made clothes, I love the skirt I got from there. It's fun to look at the site. It's in Italian, but the pictures are great. In Italy there aren't to many plus sized stores and I knew I wanted shoes and something to wear from Italy. So I did yahoo italy and I found the store. I learned quite a bit of italian words. I can't pronouce anything, but I can read it a little bit.

Some people may not be a size 2x or 3x or larger, but still have problems finding clothes or specifically nice formal dresses so here's some advice on that front, which also applies to 2x, 3x, etc.

Consider a bridal shop for a dress for formal night - as in a wedding gown or bridal party dress, they tailor it to fit you. I'm a size 18 on top and a 12 on the bottom and can never fit into any dresses at Jc Penney or other department stores.

I was going to go to David's Bridals (Chicago area) to get a formal dress made/fitted for me ( saw a few on their website that I liked a lot!).

Then I got lucky and found a long halter dress at JC Penney that I ordered online in size 18, which worked for me in the chest area and I had the tailor at my local dry cleaners take the rest of the dress in down the side seams to fit beautifully.

But go to either bridal shops or take a dress you find elsewhere that fits oni top to a tailor.

This would actually work for anyone who can't buy in the stores as they are 2 or more sizes different on top than on the bottom.

There's nothing more beautiful, at any size, than clothes that fit properly!

There is also One Stop Plus. I believe they are related to Romans or Woman Within and or Jessica London.

For plus size clothing have you tried Catherine's?
for summer clothing they always have a very nice
amount to pick from. Also Boscov's carries a nice
amount of plus size. fashion bug also.
They both carry from shorts to formal wear.
one stop shop for everything.

hope this helps you out.

The all three have web sites for you to see what they have.

I realize that most of us are not looking for jeans for a cruise , but Catherine's Right Fit jeans are great! They really DO fit! Since I'm short I always had a problem with the crotch coming down to my knees with regular jeans, but not with these.

They have some in black that really don't look like jeans. They'd be fine for casual dress night.

Just FYI,
