This was the noisiest cabin in which we've ever been. It's below a part of the galley and, I think, part of a pantry. The only time we had quiet was about two hours in the middle of the afternoon.
After we mentioned this to several of the crew, just in passing, we were given OBC to "make up" for the noise. That was nice, but it really didn't make up for the noise. There were cart's coming and going above, things being dropped, people walking, and one night what sounded like a large box of ball bearings were poured out above us .
Even if you have to change ships, do NOT book this cabin!

That has got to be tough. I always try to look at the decks above and below. Our last Carnival cruise we were below the lido buffet. No real noise problems but at about the same time every night a woman in heels (Sr. staff?) walked through and we heard little other noise from up there.

I'm sorry you got "The Cabin From Hell". I had a suite under the pool deck on Mercury and we were awakened around 6:00 a.m., each day, when they dragged the lounge chairs across the deck to be set up. It was the same each night but we were usually not in the cabin.
I think yours was much worse than that.
Hopefully the next cabin will be a bit quieter.
Take care,
Mike

This is why I always look at the deck plan to make I know what's above, below, besides, and across the hall from a cabin. There's nothing worse than being in a cabin with alot of noise from above. Having been below the Lido Deck a couple of times, I refuse to book a client on that deck unless they insist, but then not without alot of warning. We were on a two week cruise and I finally measured to see what was above us and wouldn't you know it, there was a wooden floor with a sign saying, "Fat ladies in high heels, please stop and tap dance here." I swear I was about ready to take a shotgun and do some skeet shooting!!
We were also below a galley one time and it sucked that at 5:00am every morning they dropped a huge pot on the floor just to irritate us!
But then again, having a cabin above ours is no guarantee of peace and quiet. We've had people above us that I could have sworn spent the whole night rearranging the furniture! Either that or there was nothing in the room and they were instructors with Arthur Murray's dance school practicing the latest routines!
But definitely stay away from being under the pool area, a restaurant, a galley, any area with a hard floor, a restroom, etc, etc.

I always look at deckplangenius. That's the best site I found that gives pro & con regarding a ship's specific cabin number. Sometimes looking at what is above & below will not tell the whole story. For instance there are ships with sewer or fuel smells present near some cabins or other problems not obvious by just looking at deck plans.

Really, I did look at the deck plan. It showed Cabin 2414 below another cabin, but very near the Galley. I can't believe that every cabin below the Galley (that would be most of the Cove Balcony cabin's) would have as much noise from above.
Since we were given some OBC for our "discomfort", I think that Carnival knows that this is a very bad, noisy cabin. I'd suggest they save it for overflow or for an entertainer's cabin.
After a week and a half they offered us another balcony cabin. It wasn't worth moving at that point.
This won't stop us from sailing with Carnival, but we'll be much more careful in choosing a cabin next time !

Thanks for posting where not to book! Not having a clear picture, looking at the deck plans is disconcerting.
Years ago, on RCI, they didn't notate obstructed cabins in the brochures. We booked this cabin, thinking it was a regular ov, & with the ta's assurance. Well, guess what....obstructed.
When we got home, I wrote a letter, and advised them, had I, or the ta known, I wouldn't have booked that cabin, and, why wasn't it notated?
I got a $300.00 voucher for my letter. They stated the current brochure was in printing production, but, the next one, would be notated!! I think you are right..Carnival had their wallet, open and just waiting for your call.

I had a very noisy cabin on the Destiny. We just got back from the ultimate cruise from hell. It was a four day, long weekend out of Miami. Screeming, yelling, drunkiness, and terrible standards of conduct from the passengers. I begged the front desk to move me to a more quiet cabin, no dice. Didn't get a moments peace and quiet, not ever. I should have known better, now I do. bye,bye Carnival

Hi Jimbo, we'd never book a cruise shorter than 7 days. The four day cruise's are full of "partier's". I wouldn't give up on Carnival. Just try a longer cruise !

I agree with Fern! Those shorter cruises, especially on Carnival and especially on the weekends, are full of those looking for a party.
The newer ships are much nicer but, because of popular demand, they are reserved for the longer cruises.
So, as Fern said, don't give up on Carnival, but choose a 7-night cruise on a newer ship and you'll see a world of difference.

Hi all,
We had the same experience, except in cabin 2445 right below the galley. Just mentioned we hadn"t slept in 3 nights worrying the noise meant one of the lifeboats was coming "undone", and they gave us OBC plus 15% off our next cruise. We are doing the Dream again, Western itinerary. We watched where we booked this time! But we loved the cove balcony.
Pat
We just got back from 7 nights on the Dream, the noise above our cabin and our friends was horrendous ALL day and ALL night long, the cabins are right below the lido deck, all you hear is chairs being dragged, unfortunately for us we found the website deckplangenius too late, we had already booked, we did take earplugs which helped a little, Carnival did give us OBC.
Overall we were disappointed with the Dream.
In an earlier post on this subject I mentioned I always check deckplangenius. com when selecting a cabin. I just check the 4 cabins on deckplangenius and all 4 were noted they could be noisy cabins.
I highly recommend checking dpg for cabin selection.
