Default Positives/Negatives of Weight Loss

In the last six months I've lost about 45 pounds. That is a very good thing. I had MORE than enough weight to lose and I can still lose about 10 more. It is good for my overall health and I am sleeping better and I rarely need my CPAP (snoring) machine.

The negative is that my clothes don't fit (a.k.a sacks) and I am finding it REALLY expensive to buy new ones, especially when you have to redo your wardrobe all at once. Yesterday I spent about $300 on new casual clothing and it was only five shirts, four pair of pants, and some under clothing. I didn't even buy the good stuff because I am still losing weight.

I also have tried my dress clothing on and none of that comes close to fitting. I did pull out an old suit that was close to 20 years old and I can once again fit into it. It isn't in style but I look good. :-)

BTW: If anyone needs a nice wool tuxedo, 50 jacket, 34 x 35 sleeve. 40 to 42 inch pants. With three different vest/tie and cummerbund/tie combinations: Let me know, I will be happy to give it to you for you to have and wear. Not to sell on Ebay. It's only been worn on two cruises. When it fit I was 6' 2" and 260 lbs. It's in excellent condition and all "cooties" have been removed. <VBG>

Take care,
Mike

Congratulations on the weight loss but I know what you mean about the clothes. I lost 35 pounds last year and had a great time weeding out my closet and a great time shopping but a horrible time in the checkout line!

Congratulations on your accomplishment. Once I lost a little over 50 lbs in about a 7 month time period. It was costly buying new stuff.

Way to go Mike, sounds good for your health! And maybe you could send that suit to James, sounds like it would fit him for the next cruise, although wool in Hawaii may not be such a good idea!

congratualtions Mike! That is wonderful and so glad to hear that you are feeling better and sleeping better. Good luck with giving away tux. Didn't realize you were so tall.

Congratulations, Mike. Keith has lost nine pounds without dieting. The doctor didn't seem concerned, just saying that Keith is taking in fewer calories and probably the new excercise program is helping. I haven't changed my cooking habits and Keith has the appetite of a chorus girl.

I sympathize with the clothing problem. Keith's pants are all too big. He's an in-between size, so the smaller one doesn't fit and the biger one hangs on him. Outer-wear shorts the same problem.

Good for you Mike!!!! Since our oldest daughter moved here and had her baby I have gained 40lbs and I also had to buy new clothes because my size 10/12 don't fit anymore. It's the other side of the coin I guess! Keep up the good work Mike.

Nice goin' Mike. I know what you mean about buying a new wardrobe. I lost 75 lbs. last year and had to buy EVERYTHING. It is expensive but it sure feels good dont it?

Mike - that's great. I found that after i lost some weight- a piddly 20 lbs compared to yours! that my seamstress or in your case a tailor was a great resource, if your "fat" clothes are in good shape, have them taken in - pants especially.

Congratulations on the weight loss, but I think I'm heading in the opposite direction.

You know, they told me how much better I'd feel if I quit smoking and how much money I'd save too. They were wrong. I feel a lot worse now and since I gained all that weight I had to buy new clothes so I haven't saved a stinkin' penny.

Regards,
Thomas
