Default Another Touching Tribute

This evening my sister and I attended a Memorial Service at the Palliative Care Residence where my mom spent her last days back in Feb. The ceremony was held outside in the garden, which we never saw in the middle of winter. It was beautiful - trees, flowers, plants, a pond with waterfall, and many mementos. There was a gazebo, with a big table, and all the family members were invited to come inside and light a candle for their loved ones. There were 50 candles twinkling in the evening twilight. There were inspirational readings, a musican playing, a couple of beautiful singers, including a very talented 10 year old girl, and generally, alot of love and comfort.
Tears were shed, but souls were healed. Once again, this residence has served above and beyond the call of duty, and I am so grateful to them for yet another heart-warming experience.

Donna: I understand how touched you are. Hospice cared for my late husband in his last 6 months and then later had a memorial service for all the paitients of that year.

It was most moving and curative and even uplifting for all of us.

Those who care for others are a special breed and we owe them so much.

It sounds like a haven of peace in the midst of the storm.

I glad that you found comfort. I'm praying that you will continue to heal.

there is a reason why these places are called "healing gardens" and you expressed that. Hospice is a wonderful thing, such caring people, angels on earth

I always admired your ability to craft words in your cruise reviews.
" Tears were shed, but souls were healed. "
Absolutely beautiful..

Donna,
What part of Canada are you from? I think the work of people who provide palliative care and hospice services is so valuable to those who are facing terminal illness.
The fact that they also continue to care for the living who are left behind speaks volumes about their commitment. The memorial service was a beautiful idea. Thanks for sharing your lovely experience.

beenie weenie, I'm from Quebec, the West Island of Montreal, to be exact. The whole service was conducted in both official languages, including the songs. Truly beautiful.
