I was barely sitting down when I heard a voice from the other stall
saying: "Hi, how are you?" I'm not the type to start a conversation in the restroom but I don't know what got into me, so I answered, somewhat embarrassed, "Doin' just fine!" And the other person says: "So what are you up to?" What kind of question is that? At that point, I'm thinking this is too bizarre so I say: "Uhhh, I'm like you, just traveling!" At this point I am just trying to get out as fast as I can when I hear another question. "Can I come over?" OK, this question is just too weird for me but I figured I could just be polite and end the conversation. I tell them "No.......I'm a little busy right now!!!" Then I hear the person say nervously... "Listen, I'll have to call you back. There's an idiot in the other stall who keeps answering all my questions! |

I hate when that happens. Well, not in the bathroom

![]() ![]() ![]() I've seen these people in the stores talking to themselves! It used to be a sign that you had a "problem"! Now it's just a sign that you have an earpiece! I know I'm "old", but do people really have to be in touch all the time ![]() ![]()

Fern, I doubt that you are old--- maybe like me in that we are "old " enough to still have and use a little common sense. No, people don't have to be " connected " all the time. In fact, I recently saw an article regarding vacations and how they have changed and that people come back feeling as though they haven't been away. Reason ?? --- they stay " connected " all the time to work or home or friends or someone who will listen when they call or send an e-mail.
I cruise without a phone, don't want to waste my time and money calling. e-mailing or anything else. If someone dies, someone will let me know. If someone or someything is in such bad shape that I have to call constantly, I would cancel and not go to begin with. I personally am so UNimportant that I can be gone for a few days and the world goes on without me. Really a pretty good feeling. |

Hi Ron,
I SO agree with you! As far as being old, my first phone (at age 17!) was a baby blue Princess phone! That should give you some idea of how "old" I am! We take one cell phone for the trip to and from the port. We never buy Internet time on the ship. Our house/cat sitter has the name of our "proxy" (our attorney) and our insurance company to handle anything that comes up while we're gone. She's been housesitting for us for years and I trust her to take care of things. If, G'd forbid, someone dies, there's really not much we can do about it if we're miles away on a ship (none of our parent's are still with us; that might make a difference). We'd just rather not know about it until we debark, since we really can't do a thing about it. We are also UNimportant! Amazingly, life goes on without us ![]()

I totally agree with you Ron and Fern! The cell phone stays home when we cruise. How did we manage to go on vacation before cell phones??? Very nicely i may say. There is always an emergency number available no matter where you go. We like you are not soooo important that we have to stay connected to the outside world when on vacation
