What a crazy and disheartening past 19 hours it has been. We had 13 inches of rain water flood our basement. In the past 20 years we had a little water one time but nothing like this. The damage ranges from the furniture to appliances as well as our furnace. All the drywall and insulation needs to come out.

Sorry to hear this. We had friends that had the same thing happen and it was a major problem. Hopefully it will not be too bad and I hope your insurance covers this.
Take care,
Mike

Some areas around here got over 7 inches of rain in just a few hours...Many are flooded, glad to say, we're OK here. So sorry to hear that you got flooded Aerogirl, they say may-be more rain today, hope that doesn't happen.
So good new the water heater, furnace, washer, stove & fridge are all working, the dryer and furniture are done with! We now have to wait for the adjuster to come out hopefully tomorrow.
D/S lost his playstation3 along with the jackets to the game, I think the game should be fine but we’ll have to see. D/H lost a stamp collection that was put in an air tight plastic container however it had cracked at some point and was full of water. It could have been so much worse.
Bad news it’s pouring just west of us and its moving our way I don’t know why we flooded, we lived here almost 21 years and one time had an inch or two when our pump failed and our flood control system seems to be working fine. I use to love a good storm not anymore!

I echo all of the above sentiments. About twelve years ago we had one of those, "once every 100 years" rain events and we had four inches which while it didn't destroy anything major except ruin the carpet and some sheet rock, we did not have flood insurance. The downstairs den was never used as such since.
I wish you all of the luck in the world with your adjuster tomorrow and that your able to recoup your losses (including your own labor).
Went through this in 2008, I believe. Raining so hard that sump pump pumped out the water to the ditch which then backflowed through our cistern. Cistern was overflowing into the basement which the sump pump pumped out. Nasty ring around that flooded our basement with six inches of water (sump pump could not keep up!).
Lost furniture, carpet, walls, etc., etc., etc. So feeling for you right now as it is such a hassle to clean up. Ugh. So sorry for your mess. Hope things continue to look up for you!
