Talking I have an interview....please help me!!!

Hi Guys

I need some help and advice!

I am 29 years old and currently live in Edinburgh, Scotland. I have an interview with The Royal Caribbean in October for 2nd Payroll Purser position.

Any advice on the following would help.....

How can i make sure i get the job?
What kind of person will they be looking for?
They are doing a group orientation, does anyone know what this is?
How many hours a week does a payroll purser work?
How much time do you normally get off per week?
What is it like to work for the RCI?

Many thanks in advace!

Emma

How can i make sure i get the job?

>>>That's totally up to you . . . and if there are any actual openings.

What kind of person will they be looking for?

>>>Organized and computer proficient - Lotus Notes, Excel. Attention to detail

They are doing a group orientation, does anyone know what this is?

>>>I did one when I was hired - Watched a few videos, some relatively goofy group events and then the one on one interview . . . which is the most important event . . .

How many hours a week does a payroll purser worK?

>>> Any ship worker should be prepared to work at least 10 hours a day, 7 days a week. Payroll happens twice a month, so a few days before payday are pretty frantic - and then at the end of every month . . . and also at the end of every cruise when crewmembers are signing on and off . . .

How much time do you normally get off per week?

>>> Payroll pursers hours are pretty close to the 'crew office' hours - 9 to lunch - 2 ish to 7 ish and then whatever time you need to complete your chores. Your immediate boss the the Crew Payroll Mananger, and you're on par with the 2nd Purser Admin (almost same position, but for guests, i.e. credit cards, revenue . . ) Not a whole lot of time off in ports as this is closer to a 9 to 5 office job - but you have the potential of evenings off most of the time.

What is it like to work for the RCI?

>>> try it and find out

Kronos payroll/timekeeping software. This is 99% of a payroll pursers life.
