How many hours a week does a payroll purser worK?
>>> Any ship worker should be prepared to work at least 10 hours a day, 7 days a week. Payroll happens twice a month, so a few days before payday are pretty frantic - and then at the end of every month . . . and also at the end of every cruise when crewmembers are signing on and off . . .
How much time do you normally get off per week?
>>> Payroll pursers hours are pretty close to the 'crew office' hours - 9 to lunch - 2 ish to 7 ish and then whatever time you need to complete your chores. Your immediate boss the the Crew Payroll Mananger, and you're on par with the 2nd Purser Admin (almost same position, but for guests, i.e. credit cards, revenue . . ) Not a whole lot of time off in ports as this is closer to a 9 to 5 office job - but you have the potential of evenings off most of the time.
