Clothing question

When you are on a Caribbean cruise and go off the ship ,whether you are touring on your own or taking a shore excursion do you wear shorts or jeans ?

Donna January 11th, 2012 09:33 PM

Henry,
Should be nice and warm....I'd be in shorts for sure, and sandals, or a nice comfortable shoe for walking, etc. Just be comfortable...

Trip January 11th, 2012 09:33 PM

It's the tropics, so, most people dress to be comfortable in the heat, and humidity, so I vote shorts.

Fern January 11th, 2012 09:56 PM

I'm not comfortable in shorts, so I wear skorts (shorts with a short skirt over them).

It's way too hot for jeans :). Shoe wise, I prefer walking shoes and socks to sandels on an excursion.

Manuel January 11th, 2012 10:02 PM

I wear shorts, just like I have been doing every day since I moved to Florida.
The only time that I took a pair of jeans on a cruise was to Alaska.

I've never worn shorts off ship .I was last on a Caribbean cruise 18 years ago.

Trip January 11th, 2012 10:41 PM

Then this cruise is a good time to start:)

We are both cruising beginning March 17 .However ,I calculate it as 66 days to go and you have 64 days .

Trip January 11th, 2012 11:02 PM

I am pre-cruising for 2 days.so.....will you be in shorts?

CBri08873 January 11th, 2012 11:05 PM

Yes, you can wear whatever you like. However, if you are going on an excursion, the booklet usually tells you what to wear, e.g. walking shoes, swimsuit, etc.

I will be in shorts while on the ship but I feel more comfortable in jeans ,I guess it will be determined when I awake .

johnthed0g January 12th, 2012 06:21 AM

I wear my jeans on the plane then never see them again until we go home.

anniegb January 12th, 2012 07:08 AM

I have never worn( for more than 5 mins) or owned a pair of jeans - material is too heavy and my shape is not suited to jeans.

Anyway who wants to wear what everyone else wears?

Thinking about it, there are very few family members who wear jeans :)

I wore a suit all my working life but off the job jeans 99% of the time .

LisaK January 12th, 2012 11:23 AM

Henry, i have a suggestion, how about wearing a pair of chinos? they are very casual, lighter and just as comfy if not more so than your fav pair of jeans

Good suggestion Lisa - anything has to be lighter than jeans.

I will wear chinos on the ship on non formal evenings .

Golden1 January 13th, 2012 02:15 PM

I usually wear a short sundress or cover-up over my bathing suit, as most of my excursions include some sort of swimming.

Oh, and do not buy new walking shoes! Make sure you take ones that are already worn in!

Trip January 13th, 2012 02:19 PM

The hottest day ever in my lifetime, was, Labor Day in St Maarten...I could not imagine being in jeans:( The makeup slid off my face in one piece!!

Lakers Fan January 13th, 2012 09:34 PM

Why do women have the need to apply makeup ?

Trip January 13th, 2012 09:43 PM

Henry, surely you jest.......

Not really

Trip January 13th, 2012 10:30 PM

Henry, since you asked why [women][ me,] would wear make up..I could ask you, why, in the heat and humidity of the tropics, would you wear jeans???

You said, you feel more comfortable....I would answer the same.

I tend to not expose too much of my body because I've had 3 skin cancer surgeries . I realize that most women (not all) wear makeup .Some very prominent choose not to .
I for one never wear cologne while many men do .Its a matter of personal taste .

Trip January 13th, 2012 11:08 PM

Indeed it is:)

colorcrazie January 15th, 2012 06:26 PM

My husband has some very light weight casual slacks that he wears on the ship and in ports. Jeans can be extremely uncomfortable in the heat.
Marty
P.S. I don't wear makeup when it is hot. It never stays on, so why bother.

Lakers Fan January 16th, 2012 12:46 AM

A lot of women never wear makeup including some of the greatest singers of all time .

Mike M January 16th, 2012 06:59 AM

I like to wear jean shorts. I also never wear makeup. :D

When going ashore in the Caribbean I usually wear shorts. Jeans would be too hot especially if you are walking around a lot.

Take care,
Mike
