I have been on many cruises and have noticed some groups are lead my tour leaders, guides or escorts. Does anyone know of any companies where one might apply to become one of these people. I would be very interested in going on cruises and handling all the details and helping the tour group passengers not worry about the paperwork and all the other details. Thanks

Hi there, not sure that there is such a position per se.
All the escorts we have chatted to from different cruise lines all work on board (dance troupe, entertainment, shops, officers etc) and basically give up their own free time in exchange for a 'free' place on the tour.
If you do hear of a job that entails just going on tour as an escort, please let me know
Alan.

I am talking about someone who leads a group from hotel to ship, or meets at airport and gets them to ship or the contact if there are any problems to ship. Once on board you set up a table to meet your group each day and tell them what is going on the next day or prepare them for the group excursion or handle any problems they might have during cruise and you are there go to person. In exchange for this you cruise free, but are busy most of the time with them. This is not so much do go along on a tour (excursion), but a group for the whole cruise.

I have seen the folks you are talking about. Some may work for actual tour companies or just be group organizers. I don't believe this is a position that the cruise lines have. Most cruise lines contract their shore tours with specific vendors and think those contracts are negotiated at corporate.
Our med cruise did have a "port lecturer". That is the dude whose job I would like to have.

I used to know someone working for Holland America in this capacity .
Non of the cruise lines hire group leaders. They all have a group coordinator onboard whose job it is to work with group leaders.
It would be travel agencies who will often send out a group leader with their larger groups. Normally it will be one of their travel agents leading their groups.
