LeHavre/Normandy Questions

After perusing the Celebrity info on excurions to the D-Day beaches at Normandy, we have a few questions. . . .

Is it possible to get an independent tour there? Anyone have any info on independent tour operators?

One concern that we have is that the Celebrity excursions are 10-11 hours (YIKE!). I guess part of it is the bus trip over and back, which they say is 2 hours/way.

Is there anything else near LeHavre? We don't want to do Paris, having spent time there a few years ago.
