I have just booked a cabin on the Zaandam and it is a connecting stateroom. Does anyone know how this is set up? Are there 2 doors, one on each side that can be locked? Does anyone have any experience with noise? Does the door take up any extra space? Thanks!

Yes, there are 2 doors, like in a hotel. Both can be locked or left open, whichever you choose.
It's no different than having a wall there, so doesn't take up any extra space. I think the sofa/love seat is just situated against a different wall if you had a cabin that didn't connetc. The one time we booked late and could only get a room with a connecting door, we heard nothing form out neighbours.
Did you get your Mother the connecting room or are the 3 of you going to share?
Have a wonderful trip - you'll love this cruise and Hawaii is so beautiful.
We ended up getting one room for all three of us. We couldn't afford to get a separate room for my mom. And the verandah cabins were out of our price range. We are hoping we don't all drive each other crazy!
And the room we ended up with is a connecting room. It says it has 2 lower beds and 1 sleeper sofa. So I am wondering how the furniture will be arranged.

Our cabin is E1874 on Deck 1, Dolphin Deck. I will let you guys know how it is. I will take pics. I am sure others would like to know the set up of the rooms, too.
