Ray, I am looking forward to your Alaska review... Alaska is one of my favorite cruise locations.... If fact it is the cruise that started us cruising again, previous was 1973 Sitmar Fair Sea. I just learned Princess has banned smoking in cabins and on balconies. There goes another one, I see land vacations in my future if this trend does not change...

This is also hilarious! I guess I never figured any of this out. I just keep thinking, "maybe someday I'll meet some guy who isn't a jerk".

So its official that the folks who are doing the TA/Inaugural B2B will be able to stay on the ship.

And....there is some sort of "event" for the 13th but no details yet.

Not sure how JH will announce this or what one would need for admittance to the event.

Looks like we will be driving back & forth a few times to the island that weekend.

Good morning Cruise Mates, I feel better this morning, I slept in the guest room, NO I am not in trouble... My back has started to bother me and I though it might be the bed.. Sure enough I do feel better this morning. I like the guest room a lot, time to up grade our bedroom a bit starting with a new mattress... Any recommendations?

This is a GREAT subject!! I bought a new mattress a couple of years ago and it is already in the guest room. I'm back sleeping on my 20 year old one. The new one developed craters where I was laying! At the risk of sounding like my parents.....they don't make them like they used to! And it wasn't a cheapo mattress. I'm leaning toward latex this time, even though it's pretty expensive. Anybody got any advice for Mike and I?

On another note.....THANK GOODNESS IT'S FRIDAY!!! I worked 11 hour days most of the week. I need another vacation!

Hahaha her I sit in front of the tv and a Sleep Train commercial comes on.
Personally I prefer pre cruise hotel mattress. I even got to try one of those sleep number beds - not too impressed with those after playing with trying to find my perfect number. One of these days I hope to jump up and down to see if a wine glass or bowling ball will move ---- I tried to do that once but Michael had me laughing so hard I had to give up.
Take it easy Mike -- we want you going on the Magic with us-- not that FlAt Mike isn't welcome.
Cheers

(This is a GREAT subject!! I bought a new mattress a couple of years ago and it is already in the guest room. I'm back sleeping on my 20 year old one.) Linda, I am not sure this is the best subject, but something we all deal with. I am surprised you can get that kind of milage out of a mattress, I think the one in our room is 8-10 years old, I think closer to 8. No bumps or lumps that I notice, just a back ache when I wake up for the last few days. I had the same thing happen when I replaced the one before. I guess I have a sensitive back. I asked Carole to do a review and find out what is recommended. I would like to get at least ten years out of the next mattress. I would get one of those foam things if that would solve the back problems and last awhile... I know what you mean about things not lasting, I just replaced the refrigerator after only eight years. The service guy told me all the new models don't last because the motors and compressors are smaller to meet the green and energy standards.... Great right, they charge you more and give you less....

Mike, I have back trouble too, and it's really miserable to start out your day with a back ache already. I have heard good things about both memory foam and latex mattresses. I do know that memory foam can be hot, while latex doesn't heat up (from what I've read). But heck, I can take a couple of cruises for the price of a new mattress! Anyway, I hope you find a solution soon.

April, I have never tried a Sleep Number bed, but I have friends that swear by them. My chiropractor has one, but he prefers his latex mattress. I just want one that will last more than 6 months!

What's everyone up to this weekend? It's finally started acting like summer here, so we've had 106+ temps. That means I have to try and get everything done in the morning and then hide in the house in the afternoon. Or go out to the lake to keep cool! Hmmm......that's a good idea. I mostly have errands and stuff today. I haven't caught up around here since I was gone last week.

I'm so glad November is getting closer! In about 3 weeks I'm heading to Kansas City to visit my oldest brother and his wife. I haven't seen them in about 4 years and they are paying for my ticket. Should be fun!

Well, have a great weekend, and good luck with mattress shopping Mike!

(Well, have a great weekend, and good luck with mattress shopping Mike!) Linda, thanks, I think I will leave the shopping to C. I did read a little on line about foam, and it was not all great. My daughter came over this morning and said she herd about a mattress company in SF called Mc Roskey, I looked it up on line and they start at 4,500 WOW! about four times what they charge at Costco for a good mattress.... At that rate it would be cheaper to replace it every five years...Have a great weekend, we are going to the Gate, this is Hawaiian night, and they have two bands that trade off. I am concerned about the old gals in grass skirts, ho what the heck it should be fun....

Quiet out there, where is everyone? not to beat a dead horse (sorry TC), but, C found a mattress she thinks is good, it is new and has foam in it as well as a cooling system? Hmmmmmm, If this thing doesn't get hot why does it need a cooling system. I guess it does not matter I am getting use to the guest room......

I'm with April.....cooling system? We need more details about this mattress, Mike.

I've been working way too much as well, April. I guess I'm looking at it as padding my cruise fund for later!

Ummm...I'll send you an email about the FCC thingy.

Goooood evening!

From hot, hot, hot, Amarillo, TX! We are heading southward for a couple of weeks. We left the RV in Colorado, so we HAVE to go back. Good thinking, huh?

Mike.... WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU DOING MOWING THE LAWN! Get a grip!

Linda.... Goin' to Kansas City, Kansas City here I come! WooHoooo! Good trip, but it will be hot, hot, hot!

April... Let me know how you handle the FCC. I need to do that, too. Wonder where I put them?

Liz, TC, Scurvy, y'all staying out of trouble? Nah, not likely!

Is it November, yet??? And when is Snoozeman coming home? The dog! Been up there soaking up all that Alaska has to offer! Maybe next year!

Cheers, y'all! Missing everyone!

Checking in! Trying to stay cool ..... the heat index today was 114  the poor horses were completely wet with sweat by 10 a.m. this morning!

Mike ... if I was to beat one of the horses now .. it probably would kill them .. it's so hot I don't think they could take it

On the 11th of Aug I am going on the Triumph for the annual 39th birthday cruise . I need another future cruise certificate anyway so what a perfect excuse to take a quick cruise to Cozumel so I can get one You know I've discovered that it is cheaper in the long run to take a cruise (from New Orleans) than it is for me to go on a long weekend horse camping trip When you factor in the cost of fuel round trip, the camping fees, the time spent on the road and the WORK of setting up/tearing down camp , etc, etc, etc! I'm not sure how I'm going to break this news to the horses, because I'm seriously considering of selling one of them

stay cool Babies

I'm supposed to be getting ready for work, but wanted to post this real quick for April and Darlene. Here's the link to where you do your FCC online. It worked fine for me when I did mine.

Carnival Cruise Lines - Future Carnival Vacation Form

Good luck!

One thing I learned is the form will not work with PC screen zoom level set at 125%.
That is where I keep mine (better for blind old people).
Set it back to 100% and form worked fine.

When we sail in 19 days I am going to buy 4 certificates.
I already know how I am going to spend 3 of them. I feel the Breeze now...............

Scurvy, I agree, I plan to get some futures while on the Paradise.... I was thinking Breeze as well. I think I managed to talk C out of this foam cooled mattress... back to something more normal, She had to agree if it's not hot why does it need a cooling system. That and I think she is concerned I will never leave the guest room. It might be great but I don't want to be part of a mattress company experiment. TC , note I did not reference beating a dead horse.....

(if I was to beat one of the horses now .. it probably would kill them ..) TC, the horse business is a figure of speech. I would never actual beat a horse, or anything else for that matter.... Scurvy, wishing you guys a wonderful time in Alaska. I am looking forward to you comments, Alaska is one of my four favorite cruise destinations..... Don and Darlene, have a save trip back to Texas... April and Linda, with any luck this mattress nonsense will end tomorrow for another 8-10 years.....
