Renting Cars in Cozumel

We are arriving in Cozumel on Carnival Inspiration and want to rent 2 vehicles. Is it best to rent them from the airport of can you rent right at the pier?

Welcome to Cruise Mates !

When we are doing a land vacation in COZ, we p/up at the airport....but when renting while on a cruise, we book in advance and pick up at or near the pier.

We usually use Hertz for our Jeep rentals...be careful of those "too good to be true deals" offered at the pier !

Make sure you take out FULL INSURANCE COVERAGE

Just be sure to buy the insurance coverage and take a copy of your passport and your drivers license with you in the vehicle in case you are stopprd by state or federal policias. If you are given an FM1 visa, take that with you as well. Usually cruise ship passengers don't get FM1 visas. Also go over the car carefully prior to leaving the rental kiosk to avoid any additional charges for damage.

Consider hiring a taxi driver for the day. Often it is a bargain with fewer challenges.
