Default Scooter rental in Grand Cayman

Does anyone know if you can rent scooters/motorbikes while in Grand Caymen? My husband and I along with 3 other couples have booked the Jan03, '05 Coral Princess. We have already been to Stingray City on another cruise and would like to rent scooters and just hang out at 7 mile beach. If you can, does anyone know the cost and reliability of the machinery?

I have rented scooters at least 4 times in Georgetown, and I always got good equipment.

It is great to explore the island the scooter way.

I am coming back for 2 weeks in decmeber and will rent a scooter again.

If you are careful learn the opposite traffic flow, pay attention it is perfectly safe.

Have fun, ejoy and live longer.

We've rented then there a number of times & found that their scooters are better than on some other islands. I don't recall the price being more or less than other places.

As has already been stated, yes, you can rent scooters and you can also rent motorcycles, if you like bigger bikes.

However, if the only reason for renting them is to visit 7-mile beach, you can take public transportation, which is very regular and cheap. At $2.50 per person each way to anywhere on the island, it's a great way to get around. Even if you want to go to a couple of different places, it's still an easy cheap way to get everywhere. Of course, it doesn't beat the fun of tooling around on a little scooter in the open air as long as you don't have any problems, as scooters can be a little tricky for those who haven't done it before. Might want to make sure you purchase the travel insurance.

You're right about the bus. It's a whole lot cheaper than spending $50 for a scooter to see the rum cake factory or going to hell. THe best part of the island is 7 mile beach & sting ray city. All the rest gets pretty boring especially after seeing it once or twice.

Yep, been there so many times there's only one thing we want to do; go to the beach and relax! We take the bus to Calico Jack's on 7-Mile Beach. They have a great beach, good burgers, cold beer, and tents for plenty of shade. Plus, right next door is Red Sail Sports where you can rent jet skis, sail boats, go parasailing, etc.

But if you're into snorkeling, 7-Mile Beach is not the place to go - it's all beautiful white sand. Fish hang around coral reef because it provides food and shelter. So if you want good snorkeling, there's a couple of great sites right near downtown.

I know there was a place right in town, just across the street. While they may be fun, be careful....A few years ago my then husband took a good tumble off one there, we tried calling the company and the number they gave us was no good...It was a mess trying to contact them....We also took out the insurance, but they still took out another $600 off our credit card?? I did fight it and won, they never once answered a letter, etc....So, beware and make sure you take their insurance, although in our case didn't mean anything.

There's a place just down the street to the right leaving the port terminal that also rents them and they provide cloth caps to go on your head before putting on a helmet. I dislike wearing a dirty helmet that's been worn by hundreds of other sweaty people & would hate to have to drag my own on a cruise.
