Default Departures out of San Pedro

Does anyone know why Princess (Diamond) is now departing at 4pm instead of the previous time of 5pm? I thought they use to always go out at 5 -- but we were informed for our October cruise that the departure is changed to 4pm. Anyone have any insight here?
Thanks.

Idaho Spuds,

When I last cruised out of San Pedro (which was since the "9/11" attack), the harbor police and the Coast Guard were still escorting all cruise ships into and out of the harbor. They often dictate the times when ships can come and go based upon scheduling of their escort vessels.

Norm.

It could be that they are reducing the speed of the ship to save on fuel.

We were on the Diamond last year and it departed at 5 or 5:30pm.

Great ship ENJOY..... 8)

We are departing out of San Pedro on the Island Princess on 9/21/06 and our time has also been moved up to 4:00PM. However, we went down to San Pedro, had dinner and watched the Island departing for it's first Alaska run - the Diamond headed to Mexico also left at 5:00PM. So, I think this is a recent change - but no idea why.
