Question Grand Princess Dining Rooms

Questioning about the Dining Rooms on Grand Princess.

We are set up for the Anytime Dining for 2.
We usually go with this type of dining on the ships we go on.
In most cases we would sit at a 2 seater which the next table is directly behind each of our backs. This gives privacy.
However on our last cruise on another brand ship, we found the 2 seater tables to be directly beside each other. We might as well push the tables together as there are only inches apart.
On another experience the 2 seaters were staggered which gave a somewhat semi private setting.

On the Grand Princess in the dining rooms
are the 2 seaters
back to back, side by side or staggered?

We are on the anytime dining which might put us in a different dining room than the reserved times.

We are considering switching to a reserved time.
There are 3 dining rooms on this ship.

Thanks for anyone's knowledge or experience with this.

If memory serves me correctly the majority of the 2-seat tables were back to back alongside the partitions between the main dining area and what I can only describe as the enclosed central section - take the letter O and imagine the white in the middle being the central dining area, then the 2-seats would be on the outer edge of the letter.
Hope that makes sense.

Having said that I did notice a number of 4 seating tables with simply a glass partition between them, so when you go to the restaurant each night make sure you ask for the tables you want - it may mean waiting, but Princess are the best & will do whatever they can to ensure you get your desired table.

I can't recall which layout they have on the Grand but if you see the Maitre D' on the first day he might be able to assign a table for 4 which might offer more privacy. As you know some of their ships have more private tables, some don't & the Star doesn't even have tables for 2 in the AT DR or at least they didn't 3 years ago.

Thanks, I am hoping this is correct. It is easier to have a private conversation when the tables are back to back. There is a reason why couples want a 2 seater after all.
I would love to hear more thoughts on this.
Thanks. We don't sail until November 2014.
