I just learned that the Paul Gauguin is now sailing under a new operatior, "Pacific Beachcomber" - effective this month / year!
For the past couple of years, I have given much thought to trying her out and sailing to Tahiti. I've heard many positive things about the Paul Gauguin and Regent Seven Seas.
Pacific Beachcomber is run by a Tahiti hotel developer, and this is there only ship, so far. Interestingly (or not) he is chartering the vessel and crew.
After the Paul Gauguin's refurbishment, I would be interested to see how the service is!
I haven't ever tried Regent but I always wanted to - isn't Paul Gauguin the catamaran one?
Radisson Diamond was the catamaran.
Give Regent a try; no better cruiseline around.

Thanks Marc - can I ask why you say there is no better line around?
Also - thanks for clarification. Have you thought about trying Paul Gauguin as a separate cruise line, or did you sail on it when it was with Radisson, I mean Regent (sorry). I was looking at a South Pacific or Asia cruise, (I live in Los Angeles)
