How do you make a reservation at Portofino?

I'm going on the Explorer of the Seas. I'm just wondering what's my best bet for getting a reservation at Portofino -- when I get on the ship should I go straight to the restaurant and reserve or reserve from my stateroom when I get in? Is there somewhere else I can go to reserve...

I can't remember but I do know there are several threads about Portofinos and Chops on here. There is probably also info on the RCCL website. I'm going on Navigator next month so if you can wait I'll let you know when I get back.

When you get on the ship you can either call from your stateroom and make the reservation or go there and make it in person. We have always called from the stateroom as soon as we get there. You can not make reservations before you board.

Honsestly I've never seen Portofinos or Chops so busy that you can't get a reservation.

Just call when you get onboard, and I'm certain you'll have no problems getting a table.

You can do it either way but why not go there when you get on board? That way you meet the maitre'd, see the layout and maybe even request a prefered table in the restaurant (maybe a secluded corner or a window).
