I mean, can I just wear a long sleeve shirt and a tie but no jacket or suit at all to the formal nights? Packing a jacket will leave me with almost no space for everything else.
Will they stop me from getting to the main dining room or anything like that if so?
I'm flying to Fort Lauderdale exclusively to take the Oasis and spend a few days in Miami, go shopping and American is allowing only 23 kg per passenger, so, it's a valid question here.
Thanks in advance for all those who can help me out here!
On the Oasis of the Seas, you'll be fine with a shirt and tie. I don't like taking a jacket unless I have to because of weight, so I very often just wear a tie and never have any problems.

Hi Ven, Just remember, the daily dress code is for dinner in the MDR...If you choose to use an alternative place to eat, like the buffet, you can wear more casual clothes...We found the dinner in the Windjammer Market Place to be just as good and the service was excellent and it took half the time.
Just off the Oasis and it was a very relaxed atmosphere as far as clothing, including formal nights. I wore a jacket on those but many shirt & tie guys present and did not look out of place.
Yes, there are "guidelines" in the dining room, but I have never seen them enforced. You will literally see everything from suits to shorts. Its really up to you what you want to wear. You may get a few "looks" if you dont dress to a "T" but its your cruise too, wear what you are comfortable with.
