Panic Time - Shipping Rum ???

I wanted to buy up to a case of rum on my cruise. I love rums and our cruise presents a great opportunity to purchase rums that are not available to me in NJ.

I was planning on sending them home UPS but they can't. "You can not ship alcohol. The only way to ship alcohol is with a special license."

Is there anyway I can bring a case back on the airplane? Special checked luggage? Any ideas? I really disappointed about this. I'm leaving tomorrow and I have no plan!

I remember coming back from Bermuda in the 80's before you could get Goslings Black Seal here in the US. We each had a carrier filled with rum and brought it on the plane as a carry on. My friends from there used to bring cases over!

I'm thinking more along the line that the ship will "hold" it for you until debark. Then Customs will ask about the "more than 1 or 2 litre" rule.

Could this be the bigger problem?
