Major purchase in port?

So, you have finally decided to spring for that very $$$ major bauble, or amazing $$$ watch...will you buy it on your cruise, or, buy it locally at home,and your reasoning please.

Great thread Trip! Since we are from Canada, we can almost always buy baubles in the Caribbean cheaper than at home. We usually do our homework ahead of time and know what we want. We usually forego birthday gifts and valentines gifts for something a little sparkly in the islands. Shopping and cruising - it doesn't get much better than that.

i always do my homework before i cruise so i have a good idea of what things cost, i don't go with anything specific in mind, but if i happen to wander into a store and something happens to catch my eye, and if the price is good..........
