As a smoker, I try to be considerate of others. I do not smoke where I am not suppose to. I do look out for signs. But there has been many of times, I am at a good slot machine (winning) and a non-smoker comes up sits next to me and starts the pretend cough thing! What a pisser! I have rights too. I was minding my own business, they came next to me. Was I suppose to put my ciggerete out? I did not. They cost too much.
I thought if my presence was bothering them that much, they would have moved. To my surprise, they stayed there. To each his own.

I'm with you MomX4, when I am at my slot machine with my money and smokes, sit next to me at your own risk. I do not smoke where it is designated no smoking. The entire casino is smoking except for a small section. And yes, I am a smoker not frugal at all. My husband is a smoker turned non smoker, very very frugal.

Fern,

The reason the Paradise failed as an non-smoking ship was because they were not generating enough profit with the alcoholic drinks. People who smoke (this is what someone from the office of Carnival Cruise Line told me), tend to drink more...

ellen265.......I do agree with that. I like to have a drink and a ciggerette at the same time.
This world maybe trying to become alittle more health conscience, but there are still alot of us around with bad habits! Till we all can get together, there needs to be a happy medium.

I just got back from the Radiance. here is the smoking info right from their guest policy. Basically, RCL ships are non-smoking ship. They allow smoking in open areas of most decks on the port side, in the casino, and the aft area of the Colony Club and Starquest lounge. That means no smoking in the halls, dining rooms, Centrum, shops, or the many bars or other public rooms. I assume they allow it in your stateroom since you can get an ashtray from the cabin attendant.

Re: Radiance almost a non smoking ship. What you have outlined is far different from our experience on Voyager in March. Smoking was allowed on the starboard side of open decks, all bars except the Champagne bar had a smoking section, the casino and all cabins were smoking. No smoking in the dining room(s) or the showroom/theatre. You could not refer to Voyager as an "non smoking" ship. The above is accurate as I am a smoker and fully aware of where smoking is/was allowed. Have things changed since March?

Here is the Radiance Useful Information flyer I have attached. It is from the July 30th cruise I just took.
