Can anyone recommend neat things to see on the ship(other than the obvious)? I have always wanted to see the Galley. Do they give tours? Any other cool stuff worth checking out. It is so amazing that they can feed and move so many people. I like checking out the 'not so touristy' stuff. The logistics to the entire process is fascinating.

Some ships still offer the behind the scenes Galley tour. Don't wait for it to be posted in the newsletter. Ask at the pursor's desk as you may have to sign up. Also, on Princess, we asked our Waiter, who gave us a private tour on his day (time) off. It was great. I understand that the Bridge tours are not being done now due to security, but it won't hurt to ask. Some ship's have behind the scenes tours of the "stage" and you get to meet with the dancers, etc. Vegetable & Fruit as well as an Ice carving demonstrations are something you don't get to experience at home. The spa usually holds special lectures such as Color, Massage, Hair and Facial seminars. Of course there are always various exercise classes to join as well as casino and card game lessons. On the new Pride and Legend, they have intro. to Thai Chi, Spinning, and even Kick-Boxing. You can see how you like those fairly new aerobic classes. Classes after the intro are $10 but well worth it if you don't have those in your local gym. Wine Tasting is one of my favorite things to do on board. There is a nominal fee but you really can learn a lot if you have an informed sommalier. Again, you can't usually do this at home.

BRIT,
Just got back from a fabulous week on the Victory.Only disapointment we experienced was no Galley tours. This was due to the recent "Norwalk Virus" affecting many other ships. The assistant CD(Lorie) said they were probably going to start showing them on the TV's as they do now with the bridge and engine room. Sail Away, Rickyray |
