Default A New Adventure...a mistake???

David and I just booked two back to back repositioning cruises on the Pullmantur Monarch for May 27th.

The first cruise is 13 nights... Colon, Panama to Lisbon, Portugal via Cartagena, Colombia and St. Maartin. We got an outside cabin for $407 p.p. including all taxes, etc.

The second leg is 9 nights Lisbon to Rostock, Germany via 2 stops in Spain, Dover, Amsterdam and Copenhagen. This was $750 p.p. including all taxes, etc.

Our airfare was only $250 Mexico City to Panama. And $450 from Frankfurt, Germany to Mexico City.

These prices even include unlimited alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages onboard.

We hope we will enjoy this Spanish based cruiseline and somewhat older ship built in 1991, formerly the Monarch of the seas. We couldnt resist the price nor the itinerary. At least we will get a cruise fix and a little practice with our Spanish skills.

Hi Guys, nice to see you again.....here's my two cents....try not to compare it to the new behemoths, with all the bells and whistles...the Monarch is the sister ship to the Majesty, which I sailed twice and adored... This class is special in my opinion..the atrium is beautiful... Fabulous ports such a deal!! Lucky you! How's Mexico treating you two?

We are both doing quite well and are very happy. Knockknock our little Dachshund died last year at age 14.5. We do miss him deeply.Otherwiae A.O.K.

This is Semana Santa or holy week if you will. It is quite a huge deal here with thousands of tourists. It is fun but we will be glad when we can get about town more easily with less traffic, etc.If we want to go to the town center we have to hoof it in because the centro part of town is closed to autos, ugh!

Sounds like a great deal and a good trips with nice itineraries. You'll have no problem with the Spanish since you already live in Mexico.

Go, enjoy, have fun and let us know how it goes.

Take care,
Mike

Hi Chuck (and David) nice to hear from you! Your trip sounds amazing, what a deal, and what an itinerary. Enjoy the smaller, older ship, who needs all those people on the behemoths anyway?
Sorry to hear about Knock Knock, I remember hearing about him often. Glad you're enjoying Mexico, we could sure use some of that warmth and sunshine here in Nova Scotia right now!

I think your upcoming adventure sounds absolutely wonderful! I love the older ships and the prices sound amazing. Just wish I knew enough Spanish to try a trip like that. Could you let me know if Pullmantur has English menus and patters and announcements or any of the above? Thanks in advance!

Most announcements orally and written are in Spanish first then English. Menus I am not sure of. Good thing my menu Spanish is the best part of my Spanish vocabulary, lol. In fact in Mexico when restaurantes give me an English version of their menus, it really trips me up.

Items are written like beef gizzards. Can you guess what that was? Sweetbreads lol

Too bad beef cattle have no gizzards. The translations are often horrible.

Chuck,

Glad to see you're still on the boards!

And yeah, as a vegetarian, gizzards -- beef, chicken, or otherwise -- give me the willies.......

I'd rather have the menu in Spanish, and do the translation myself, than have it re-translated back into English.

Something always seems to get lost in translation.

(A boring as heck movie, if you ask me.....)

Anyway, good to hear from you. Have a great cruise!
