I have friends who would like to go on a cruise.
I have been on 2 previous cruises to Eastern Caribbean and West Coast of USA and was sick on both of them. In bed for many days. Can anyone recommend a cruise maybe in the Mediterranean or elsewhere where there are cruise stops each day (no sea days) and where there is less likelihood of sickness. I found that if the distances are not far between stops, it is much better. Do not want river cruises. Thanks. |

The bigger the ship, the less 'motion of the ocean' you'll get.
However, sounds to me like you may be just prone to motion sickness. There are many remedies, but the one that works for most people is ginger pills. Old Chinese remedy that works great, has no side effects, and is cheap and easy to find. I don't suggest the usual drugs - too many unwanted side effects. But no matter what you decide on, you want to start about 3 days prior to the cruise - don't wait until you get on the ship - that's too late. Pete

Thanks Pete.
The last cruise I was on, I was on a prescription drug starting 2 weeks ahead, gravol, ginger pills and sea wrist bands. No luck. |

Wow, that sucks!!
Well, the next best thing is to find the biggest newest ship - they have all the latest computer controlled stabilizers and will offer the best ride. Plus, make sure you get a cabin as close to the middle of the ship as possible - provides a smoother ride than cabins in the front or the back. However, because those are in bigger demand, they'll cost more. Some people get seasick when they can't see the water, while others get seasick when they do see the water. So, take that information into consideration when booking a cabin. And lastly, the earlier you book, the better chance you have of getting a cabin where you want it and getting a better price. Talk to your agent and they'll help you find what you want - save yourself time and trouble, and let them do all the work for you. Pete

Your best option is a cruise on the Queen Mary in Long Beach.
There is never any movement on that ship. |
