Default Post-cruise motion sickness

My partner and I went on an NCL cruise for 8 days last March. It was a great cruise, great weather and all.

When we got back to LA, we both had that feeling that I know a lot of you know.....the feeling that you are still going up and down on waves when you are on dry land. I know it is the inner ear readjusting itself.

I had that feeling for about 24 hours.

My partner had it for FOUR WEEKS!

He went to the doctor, who said that there was nothing that could be done. He took motion sickness pills. Nothing worked. He missed several days of work and was pretty much miserable through most of April.

It's odd that he didn't get ill on the ship at all, but was ill afterwards.

I'd love to go on another cruise sometime soon, but he says he'll never get on a ship if he has to endure that post-cruise torture.

Have any of you experienced this? If so, are there any remedies?

my husband has this sometimes...he has to ween himself off motion sickness pills when it happens. it's called labrynthitis and it has to do with your inner ear. ask your doctor about this next time.

I too have inner ear problems and I usually experience this as well after our cruise. Our first few cruises, I used the patch and it worked great on the ship, but I seemed to have more of this problem after the cruise.

When I switched to Dramamine, I bought the less drowsy 12-24 hour kind. I start them the night before the cruise and usually only need one a day. Sometimes I take them every 12 hours if needed. I try to take them for a few more days after I return home and it does help.

Hope this helps.
