Default proactiv ?

Hello everyone. I was just wondering if any of you have ever used Proactiv, that skin cleanser stuff that supposedly gets rid of all acne. I was thinking of buying it, but I wanted to hear if any of you had tried it/if it worked first. Any replies would be appreiciated! Thanks.

Tried it, it didnt help me- but then again not much did. If that dosent work try Accutane. After years of having acne, we finally tried Accutane and it now is completely gone.

DONT!!

I tried it a while back (like 4 years ago) and yeah it works for the first month or two but then it backfires and you get it 100x worse than you originally had.

it works for the first two weeks then.. makes ur skin more sensitive, your blemishes more red and apparent .. i tried it and gave it a lot of time to find it does NOT work .. my best friend just got done using it only to find acne worse than she originally had .. treatments like accutane are permenant solutions rather than proactive and other topical treatments

Thanks for everyone's advice. Lately I've been using Clearisil and Sea Breeze astringent, and I think it's been working! So I do not think I will have to restort to buying Proactiv. And from some of your comments, I'm glad that's the case! Thanks again for everyone who responded!

I used it a few years ago...ALL 4 of the creams you're supposed to use, as often as I was supposed to. I'm afraid to say that it didn't work at all. I made an appointment to see a skin doctor and she prescribed me a very strong drug(I don't recall the name). It dried me up completely, i had to carry chapstick with me, use a certain kind of soap, and plenty of skin moisturizer. I also had to get my blood tested every month to make sure it wasn't killing me i guess. This stuff worked great, however.
Basically, pro-active is supposed to work well so I would give it a try; but if it doesn't work make an appointment with a skin doctor. They do have things that work.

it works for me and I have been using it for 2 years. It can be kind of drying, so you need to moisturize.

I love the stuff!

Hey
I've tried dozens of different acne medications for about 3 years now, and nothing really worked until i went on accutane. I don't beleive that anything else works. I've been off accutane for almost 10 months, and my skin is still perfect, though it did take my skin 8 months from start to finish to go from horribly bad to spotless, I reccomend it for bad acne, because nothing else worked for me!

yeah! accutane is the drug i had prescribed. It also worked very well for me when even proactive didn't. Talk to your doctor about it if you can't get rid of your acne.

Yep. accutane is the best BUT its not for girls. Girls should use Proactiv, I've also heard that the pill really helps clear up acne use it with proactiv.

who told you accutane wasn't for girls? I'm assuming the jackie who just said they used it is a girl. I also assume it is for girls because on the back of every pill it said "Do not take while pregnant". Doesn't seem like a warning for males.

No that wouldn't be a warning for males but there are high risks for girls taking it and it should only be considered in extreme cases. I'm not saying that girls should or can't ever use it. As long as they understand that there are risks. It would not be a first choose.

Okay, well you had said previously that it's NOT for girls, which implies that they simply can't take it. Yes, accutane is high risk for both genders...and the packets they make you read clearly state that. The fact that you need to get your blood checked every month should also hint that it's potentially dangerous. I already made the point that it's only for when nothing else works. You can decide with your doctor whether it's appropriate for you or not.
