Hello, hello, where ever you are!

Good morning, Cruise Mates. It's cool and rainy here in eastern Ontario. I can't complain, though, 'cause it's Saturday at last!

Have a great day, everyone.

Been awake all night. Its cold, dark, damp and we even had thunder. The news went from bad to worse. The surgeon is refering us to another surgeon. She is very sick, there is mets to her liver. Because she is other wise very healthy, despite her age, (70 )we are going to the other liver surgeon to try and resect some of it and buy some time. But time is measurred in weeks and maybe if lucky a few months and that is unbearably painful.

Had a long talk with DS about it, he was really upset but he is such a young man now and I am so proud of how he is coping and some of the things he said to both my Mother and sister. I am also very proud of my sister, she has grown up alot in the last few years. Yesterday my mother called me to her bedroom. She sat on the bed and she took a necklace that is her favorite, its a tear drop shape, blood red rubies, and like in three layers, she always wore it for special things, it was her great grand mothers. She said to me " I want to put this on the neck of my daughter who I love very much and am very proud of". We just sat and cried. Then she told me when she gets to heaven she will hug my daughter and tell her that her Mummy is an amazing daughter. Every momment I seem to have my hand around the pendant around my neck, she some how feels closer to me this way.
She knows I will care for her at home till the end. One good thing is we still can laugh and we still find humour, even the DR said, rarely do you see people still laugh with all of this, but we always did in hard times, maybe thats why our glass always feels half full instead of half empty.

Like I bought her some new nighties. She is not a cat lover although they have two. My sister LOVES cats. One of the nighties...........has a Mamma cat and two kitten on the neck, entwigned in yarn, but it is not obvious, it is small and she didnt notice it right away without her glasses, Any ways, she phones me me and says darn you, getting me a night gown with cats now on my chest..............we just roared laughing.

She also for years as long as I can remember, will say when she calls me at night "Ok I am a gonner", which some how became an expression from "I'm going to bed", to I've gone to bed", and when we speak before sleep every night, she goes to bed early, she phones from her bed and as she starts to feel sleepy she says "Ok I am a gonner now", and I say good night. She did this the other day, and it was like wierd, so I call back and said to her "Under the circumstances maybe ending conversations with I'm a gonner isnt such a good idea", she burst out laughing, I thought we would laugh for half an hour. Then the next night she didn't, and then I told her in the car yesterday , I hate the words I'm a gonner, but the other night when you didnt say it, it felt wierd, so last night she said "Ok girl I'm a gonner" and for a moment the world felt normal.

Good morning all. I can't believe it's almost June. Wasn't it just New Year's??????????

Up early and already at work. Hopefully it won't be to busy today. I have so much stuff to catch up on.

Hoping to upload some pictures from the graduation and cruise sometime this weekend. Lots to do later to get the house and yard ready for my daughter's graduation party next Sunday. We have about 100 people coming to help celebrate.

She received her paperwork and can now take the test to become a licensed nurse in Massachusetts. She is very excited. According to the state of Massachusetts, you can't even apply for a job until you take the test. Other states allow you to apply and even start working based on your college transcript and testing. Oh well. She is enjoying what little "unemployed" time she has left.

Hope everyone has a great and safe weekend.

Morning All, from Montreal, where it is dark, dull, gray, rainy, and miserable for a weekend, but in a way that 's OK since I have lots to do indoors...

I can't believe "Cruwysie" posted here this morning, and before me too!
Hi to my bud in Ontario!

Delft, your mom sounds like a cracker! You gotta have humour to get you through times like this; I know, it is all too familiar and painful to me still.

Rollerdonna,

I do so enjoy reading yours as well as the other posts. Being a "newbie" I was hesitant to jump in but I was finally convinced to do so and have done so with a venegance!

Anyway, I notice you must be a major fan of the BeeGees. Should that prove the case, you may find it interesting that my sister-in-law's brother is the number one DJ on the Isle of Man (in the sixties he was big over here as well during "the British invasion") and is a close personal family friend. As you probably know, that's from where the Gibbs brothers hail.

There is a current group from the Island called Back Door Slam that my neice is helping produce. Generally not a fan of today's version of rock 'n roll (I'm in my early sixties), I must say that the youngster playing lead guitar has been compared to Jimi Hendrix and I think he's only around 20 years of age. All of the boys (or so I'm informed) are perfect gentlemen. They may well turn out to be the successors to the BeeGee legend, at least on the Isle. They're also becoming quite popular on this side of the Atlantic having already played on one of the network morning shows and the Jimmy Kimmel Live show.

Good Morning All,

A dreary day here to be sure. We did need the rain, though I'm not getting all the outside stuff I need done very fast.

Delft - I'm so very sorry for your mom's condition, but so very happy that you are so close to each other. Your road is hard to be sure. I am praying for you all, that God will give you special strength and grace.

Cheryl - hope dd party goes well, and her test. You are so blessed to have your birdies back home to the nest!

Welcome to ToddH - nice to see you posting.

Spoke with my son yesterday - we had to see an orthopedic specialist before he came home. Seems that the ankle pain is due to some internal bleeding that took place at somepoint. The blood has calcified. He has a prescription for physical therapy and some orthopedic something or other to be made and must cross train for a good portion of the summer. This kid is always facing something...he leaves to head home tomorrow. He hopes to be home by Monday.
Our daughter leaves for Egypt on Monday - I'm a little uneasy about this trip. She informed me the other day that the one male chaporeon travelling with them will have to be armed, - if you travel in Egypt they make you have an armed guard. I will be glad when she is back, but know that she will love seeing all the historical wonderful sights. I would like to see them myself...

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
Sue - where are you?

Good Morning, slept in this morning, no walk for me!! My allergies are a PITA for the last few days. Hate the med because all I want to do is sleep.

Delf, your note this morning gave me such a sadness, but also a smile. I think your family has such a wonderful outlook on everyhting, even going thru this very hard time, you still can smile. As for Daniel I would expect nothing less from him. He is an exceptionalk young man. Your Mum was so right to give you her necklace now, before she leaves you, and just having it has to keep you closer always.

Jen, prayers for your daughters safe return, without anything extraordinary happening while in Egypt. Also for your son and his ankle. that sounds painful.

Wishingeveryone a safe weekend.

Good morning everyone:

Just a quick good morning. I've already spent too much time cruising the boards and have to get ready to drive up to my niece's graduation.

Delft: Hang in there.
Jen: I know your daughter will have a great time in Egypt.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Take care,
Mike

Good morning from Southern California.

Cheryl is right; time's aflying. Seven months til I cruise!

Looks like it will be a perfect day for Keith to paint. Will it be a perfect day for house cleaning? Probably not.

Have a good day, all.

Good morning everybody! I had gotten up 5 hours earlier but decided I was better served returning to my bed and I did just that.

To everybody who has loved ones who are ill... My prayers are with yours and with you as well. Prayer is a very powerful and spiritual medium that will set the soul at ease. This is from someone who was on the other side of the "universe" for a few moments and have experienced the effects of disasterous illnesses and injuries on both sides of the bed. Pray, pray, and then pray some more. Amen!

Just a quick note. Helen and I leaving shortly to our Monthly E9 Luncheon. This month we meet in Leesburg, Florida.

Come next Tuesday we witness the graduation of one of our Grandsons. We all wish Carl the best in his future. Says he wishes to be a CPA. Good luck to him.

Todddh,
Yes, you surmised correctly I am a major Bee Gee fan!
I am familiar with their early years, having been born on the Isle of Man, and started their singing career there. It wasn't until they moved to Australia that
they became noticed and cut their first record (Spicks and Specks) that became a hit as they were sailing back to England!

I would like to hear this new group you refer to. One day I hope to visit the Isle of Man, to see the "museum" they have supposedly dedicated to the Bee Gees. My husband has been there a few times and loves the Isle. His brother has been to the TT races there every June for the past 50 years!

By the way, welcome to CruiseMates!

Rollerdonna, was that crack trying to say that I'm a slug-a-bed???

You know I'm always up ahead of you - especially when you sleep in that nice dark bedroom we have downstairs. I still do a lot of "lurking" but don't always take the time to post.

We had a gorgeous morning and early afternoon here in the Bay of Quinte area, but the thunder and rain set in with a vengance about mid-afternoon. Good for the farmers, but it dashed my husband's hope for a fire in the fire pit. Oh, well, we'll be off to the movies instead - have to see that new Indiana Jones movie!
