Spin class leader? Gym employees?
I am cheap, so I was looking at a repositioning cruise that goes from San Juan to New Jersey in April 2012.
If I go on this, there will be a couple of days at sea.
I was thinking about taking a Spin Class (one of those classes where an entirely-too-motivated young person yells at you to pedal your stationary bike faster) or maybe just working out in the exercise room.
- How much should I tip the Spin Class teacher? It looks like the spin classes cost $12.
- How much should I tip the other exercise room employees, like the guy who hands me a towel or arranges for me to have an elliptical machine close enough so I can leer at the hot yoga instructor?

I would pretty much never tip at a spin class in the US.
But I did tip the spin class leader when I was at a resort in Mexico. The class wasn't that great, but she didn't laugh at me when I tried to speak Spanish to her, so that was worth something.
When I was in Las Vegas, a place whose economy is even more imploded than Mexico's, I noticed that the towel dude at the casino's gym had a statistics textbook with him. And he was nice so I gave him a dollar. But normally I wouldn't tip them either in the US.
