P&O Cruises Editor's Review

The British arm of Princess Cruises - borrowing the floorplans of Princess but with British style of cruising

The Experience

P&O Cruises has seven ships tailored to British tastes. Its larger ships Azura, Ventura, Arcadia and Oceana are contemporary and innovative, with a focus on a  younger crowd as well as seasoned cruisers.

Basically - since this line is located in Britain but was once the parentr company of Princess Cruises in Los Angeles, when Carnival Corp. acquired both lines it started making the ships virtually identical

The ships sail from Southampton from April to October and while some ships remain there year round others offer Caribbean cruising from Barbados or longer world voyages.

The fleet flies the British flag, but all ships are registered in Bermuda to allow for weddings at sea which are conducted by the captain and are extremely popular.

The line new-build - Britannia, arrived in 2015 and is currently the biggest ship in the fleet. It is identical to the new Royal Princess.

Most of these ships favor having small but multiple dining rooms rather than larger singular ones. The idea is to preserve a more indivualized service, like a premium ship, rather than a mainstream cruise line.

Nice sized cabins, many with bathtubs or at least larger showers

Fellow Passengers

British marketed - beans & bacon for breakfast, beer for lunch.

Added to your shipboard account largely because the Brits refused to tip. The Australians were especially adverse to tipping, it just isn't done there. So now the line does not give you a choice.
