Yankee Clipper Editor's Review

Overview

Christened Yankee Clipper when she joined the Windjammer fleet in 1965, this beautiful clipper once belonged to the Vanderbilts. Originally built in 1927 and christened Cressida, she was one of the only armor plated private yachts in the world and was confiscated during World War II as a war prize. Racing off Newport Beach, California as Pioneer (while owned by the Vanderbilts) she was considered one of the fastest tall ships on the west coast.

When Windjammer Barefoot Cruises went out of business in 2007, Yankee Clipper ceased sailing. She is believed to be in Trinidad, but we doubt that she will ever resume passenger service.
