The Royal Princess Inauguration with Kate Middleton as Godmother is next week!

Catherine will preside as "Godmother"
to Royal Princess

Royal Princess is destined to be the most exciting Princess cruise ship yet, and the vessel just arrived in Southampton, England, to be made ready for its official naming ceremony June 13th. Serving as Godmother, and giving the ship's blessing and cutting the ribbon to break the bottle of champagne on its bow, will be Catherine Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge and the wife of Prince William.

It has been announced that this ceremony will be "Kate's" last official duty before the birth of the couple's first child - predicted to happen in July - so she will be very pregnant during the event. The Royal Marines band and singer Natasha Bedingfield are expected to perform at the ceremony.

The ship will hold a number of small events for the next week, leading up to the official naming ceremony, during the next as she remains berthed in Southampton. As the ship sailed into the harbor today there was a musical salute provided by British actor, director and writer Simon Callow leading the Southampton University Brass Band is a rendition of "God Save The Queen."

The musical welcome was answered back by the special, musical Royal Princess ship's horn that plays the first notes of the theme song from the TV show "The Love Boat."

For the June 13 naming event British pop singer Natasha Bedingfield will sing her hit "Unwritten," followed by a performance by British actress and "the first lady of London's West End," Kerry Ellis. The Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines Portsmouth and The Pipe Band of 1st Battalion Irish Guards will open the event with the pomp and ceremony of British ship-naming traditions.
