clothing in Cozumel

We are cruising Feb8 to Cozumel - ONce we get off the ship; are we off for the day? We plan to do a shore excersion but dont want to take all of our clothes along. OR Is it "okay" to just bum around the town in my bikini ana a skirt? Dont want to waste time having to get back on the ship to change/or hassel with taking a big bag along for the day/

Hi Heide,
I always try to take everything I need for the day, although you dock in Cozumel, so its very easy to go back onboard and change, or pick up something if you want to spend the time doing that. You can always wear your swim suit under a top and shorts, I do that all the time if I know we're going to end up at a beach.

You may feel a little under-attired in most places. It is a real town and not a beachside resort. In addition if you happen to wish to see the inside of any of these small wonderful churches you will not be allowed in unless properly clothed. They are very strict about that. Do as Donna says and bring a pair of shorts to wear over your bathing suit or stop by the ship and change.

We wore our swim suits under our shorts/jeans and shopped for awhile after spending several hours at Chankanaab. I had a shirt along with me...but didn't use it. We saw many people dressed this way. We didn't do anything but shop in town though so you may want that shirt along just in case.

I agree with above, wear a top / shorts over your bathing suit. I was just in Mayan Riveriera and would not walk down the street with only a bikini on.

Trust me, you would at least want a tank top on. When you get there and are walking past all the Mexican vendors, you don't want to have a bikini on.

i was reading articles on the cozumel, my cozumel web site. they suggest wearing thigh or ankle length skirts or walking shorts and a loose fitting top. the people of cozumel are like any other small town with family values. this is a great website about cozumel and especially about which beaches you may wish to go to. happy cruising!

Thank you, I just wondered if it was okay to wear shorts/shirt and my bikini top. I would never walk around a town in just my bikini; I think some of the people posting messages misunderstood me.
