Way too much stuff... you ought to sail in a Walmart store and bring the ship to you, it will be a lighter load..

hahaha. your sooo right. my mom bought me a suitcase just for that stuff. its one of the smaller ones but its jam packed with stuff everytime i cruise. whether it is a 5 day or a 7 day the same amount of stuff goes with me each time.

When we first traveled we thought you had to have everythign you have at home. Now we take one travel size (overhead airline size) bag for each of us, plus one small case for cameras and makeup/medication. We still see passengers trying to navigate with three of four bags for a 7 day crusie. On a long cruise of 30 days we still take just one bag but it is a larger one. There is laundry on board so you don't need a change every 24 hours. Leave all the pillows and stuffed animals at home. Carry small travel size items. The ship provides a hairdryer so don't be tempted to stuff one in your travel bag. Bottom line----take only what you really need. That does not mean three swim suites and two formal dress up outfits. Take items you can match or coordinate ---like three tops and one pair of pants. Formal nights are just not formal anymore so cut way back. About shoes, take only the minimum---not a color for every item. Whe packing---roll---don't stuff the times into the suitcaes. You will be surprised how much room there seems to be when rolling and packing neatly.

I say take as little as possible, my 1st cruise I took quite of bit of stuff, and never wore it. I stayed in a bathing suit and cover up or shorts and tees, I did take my attire for formal night and glad I did. This upcoming cruise I now know what I need and what I don't.

I would think the duct tape would be used for any damage to your suitcase or to help keep the balcony door open at night. Bob

I have found out too that a lot of the clothes you bring, you never wear.

I think you are write about the duct tape for the suitcases. But don't use duct tape to keep the door open. Use a piece of wood that is about like 5-6 inches long and about a 1/2 diameter. I am not sure about the real dimensions, I am just trying to picture the piece of wood.

Also people have said that they have asked their stateroom stewart for a piece of wood to keep the door open and they have given it to them.

I keep a wooden dowel that is 3/4" to 1" diameter (round) and about 8-10 inches long with our cruise paraphanalia. I pack it when we book a balcony room and just pop into the open door between the hinges. It works perfectly for holding the door open and takes up very little room in my bags.

A battery operated travel alarm clock
A power strip (or at least something to allow you to plug in more than one thing at once)
A thing of pre-sweetened Kool-Aid or Tang so you can make a drink in your cabin

Anyone have any ideas. I just booked a last minute cruise and it is leaving in less than 5 weeks. So if anyone has anymore suggestions on what I should bring, it would be greatly appreciated.
