Default fantasea fest 2 {clothing optional}

Hello all. This is our first time posting here, so forgive us if we posted in the wrong spot. My wife and I are looking at booking a cruise next Halloween which is a clothing optional cruise. The cruise line for this cruise is Carnival and the boat is called Miracle. I know the boat is smaller and is an older boat. My question has to do with it being a clothing optional cruise. If anybody has ever been to fantasea fest 1 or any other clothing optional cruise, we would love to hear your opinions on the cruise itself, and more importantly the average age on board and/or range of ages. We are both in our early 40's and like to party and have fun. We would hate to board a boat full of people in their 70's. NOT that people of that age can't party.....just we were hoping for a big mix of people. Thanks in advance.

That sounds like a blast. I have not been on a clothing optional cruise but we do regulary visit HEDO and other clothing optional resorts. I have been trying to figure out how and where we can lay out toppless of nude anyway. Al

The Miracle is a beautiful ship. The CD that will be with you would be Malcolm Burns. I understand he did a marvelous job on the same cruise this year (I believe it was last month ????)

They had a body artist onboard and did a painting on Malcolm that was remarkable.

Default Info, please?

We agree---we've been on the Miracle once and her sister ships Pride and Spirit (twice). We really like the layout of this class of ship.

We have a friend who was interested (seriously) when we mentioned this cruise. Could anyone give me the exact date? Thanks.

We were docked next to one of these cruises a couple of years ago on our Freedom cruise.

We were in Key West and the Captain had to keep making an announcement that while in port, clothing had to be worn in any exterior space. (open deck, balconies, etc..)

The police kept talking to Carnival staff at the gangplank and pointing to various balconies....
I was waiting for the ship to be sent back out to sea, if they couldn't get the nudity stopped in port.

If was funny listening to how each announcement got more and more frantic.

Ploverkitty,

My wife and I were on the first Fantasea cruise, and we are signed up again for the next one as well. I promise you will love it -- we haven't had that much fun in years. For starters, we have cruised on the Miracle 3 times, and it is a great ship. And while you say it is a smaller ship, that is only in comparison to the megaships that have been launching in the last few years. There were 2,300 people on the ship, and it was a great crowd. No way does it feel like a small ship. And the people from Bare Necessities did a fantastic job as well, so it made the trip really enjoyable.

They announced the average age of the passengers during the cruise, and if I remember correctly, it was 54 or 56. My personal observation was that probably 3/4 of the passengers were within 10 years of that age. But the vibe was definitely younger than the calendar age. Since the group consisted entirely of nudists, there is a much higher level of body acceptance than in any similar aged crowd of clothed people, and that includes acceptance of the aging process. Just about all of these people think like they were still 40. To this crowd, age doesn't matter.

And at the Fantasy Fest, there is a similar feeling everywhere you look. Age is never an issue there. I took lots of pictures there, and you can see them by opening this link: Fantasy Fest 2009 Photo Gallery by jgb911 at pbase.com If you look closely at the photos, you will notice that while the clothed crowd in the background consists of people of all ages, the majority of the nearly naked, body painted people are over 40. They do not act old, and you don't perceive them that way. In one of the pictures, you will even see an octogenarian with a walker leading a conga line up the middle of Duval Street!

I hope this gives you a vetter feel for what the cruise will be like. More importantly, I hope it helps you decide to sign up to go along!! And if you do decide to go, please email me so we can meet on the ship.

So you can go naked into the ports?

I was curious to know if one could "Accidentally" end up on the same sailing. I went to the Carnival website and looked for sailigns on Miracle, but the October 25 sailing is not showing.

I guess there would be no complaints about dress code in the MDR, huh?

These cruises are Full Charters...so no way to "accidently" end up on this cruise.

Can I put in my 2 cents worth? I don't know anything about clothing optional cruises, but I would NOT book another cruise on Carnival Miracle, clothing or not. CD Malcolm Burns and his entertainment staff were the worst I've ever come across in 16 cruises. Not to mention the musical entertainment on board. Pick another cruise!

I can't know what your personal experiences with Malcolm may have been, but I do know that many people on the ship praised him highly, and I did not hear one negative word. I personally have cruised on the Miracle 3 times, and have nothing negative to say about him, except that a couple of his jokes were a bit corny. And while I agree that the music on the Miracle wasn't the greatest, I can't see how anyone would let that be the deciding factor on whether to book a cruise or not. If you would like to go on a nude cruise, the choices are extremely limited. And in this price range, the other choices are virtually non-existent. The positives here far outweigh the negatives, and anyone who wants to go should not hesitate to sign up.

Music entertainment not so good on Miracle? What about Greg Gallello(sp) in the piano bar? He was like 1st or 2nd best voted by the "Carnival" awards.

I thought he was awesome.

Sorry, Krunch, I must have missed him. Spent most of my time near the bar on the aft pool deck. Thanks for the tip, though. I'll look for him next time. Will you be on board?

Next time? Depends when next time is !

Likely not though, we will likely have a large gap between now and our next cruise. My brother is getting married this summer / trip back home for 2 weeks (over 3,000 miles away) and in 2012 we are building a new home. But all bets are on for 2013. Considering a B2B on Dream maybe.

DITTO! Malcolm just shouldn't be a Cruise Director. He, and his staff are entirely "off course", and couldn't care less about the passengers. I agree with Donna. Pick another cruise.

Just remember that CDs are not a part of a ship. If they are that important to you check John Heald's blog to see the CD schedule.

Thumbs up Fantasea fest 2

Would anyone be interested in taking my place on Fantasea fest 2? I bought a ticket (inside stateroom, sharing with a (very nice) gentleman) and am now offering it a discount, making it an awesome deal for someone.

Please message me for the details.

Just don't understand "clothing optional" but apart from that I don't think I would care to be on a ship where someone's naked "lower parts" had been on the seats. People wear clothes for more than modesty.

If I am not mistaken, towels must be placed in seats when clothing optional is "excersised".

Erm...ah...yes.
Also reminds me of that episode in "Friends" about a borrowed towel...''yes sure I don't mind you using my towel....but think, what is the last thing I dry & what is the 1st thing you dry....."

Im thinking about going on this cruise. im not the "nudity" type, But I do like to wear "less" around pools etc. At least on this trip I will be the one "over dressed" wearing a Speedo. . Im sure that most of the scenery wont be worth looking at, but im not going for that reason, Only to try somthing differnt.. At least there wont be any screaming kids running around.. At least i hope not.

Hi, We are also going on the fantasea fest cruise. This clothing optional thing is new for us but we are looking forward to doing something different. We're actually a little worried about getting too much sun lol....

I was on that train of thought. Read part of the brochure. It turns out you must be dressed (though not formally) in the dining room, Captain's party and other times too. I did not know that, I assumed nudity at all times.

Nude cruise, Hey whatever floats your boat. However going nude in port I have a major problem with! What about people on vacation with their kids, its sick! Put some clothes on!
